Following your nose. Being fearless. Creating a culture so strong a global workforce becomes one big family. There were just so many key takeaways from my interview with the inspirational Ann Ellis of Mauve Group. What a story! - from a start-up in a windowless broom cupboard, to supporting companies to trade across 70+ countries. You'll often hear me say that we don't see enough relatable female role models. How have you seen the corporate governance landscape change for Black, African, and Afro-Caribbean leaders throughout your career? >>>I have been a certified director since 2014. In that time, especially since 2020, I have seen a shift towards intentional diversity, which has increased the number of Black directors and executives. It is heartwarming and worthy of celebration. What advice would you give to directors and boards as they work towards equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in governance and the boardroom? >>> Excellent board candidates exist outside of your traditional networks. You can leverage the networks of BIPOC-led organizations plugged into these networks, such as the John Ware Institute. This month of Black History, we acknowledge progress is being made, and at the same recognize the need for more work and representation. #blackhistorymonth #blackhistorymonth2024
