In our June Webinar “Get Noticed Get Hired - Creating a Winning Resume and Acing Interviews” we highlight the importance of Showcasing your Experience. Employers want to see your experience. They want to see the trajectory of your career. Embrace your history! Leverage your past expertise to land that next great role. Some points to consider: • If you have multiple roles in your career journey:  o Show the companies and roles held in the last 10-15 years o Provide Dates and Title  o Include bullets of your achievements • For roles prior to the last 10-15 years: o Create a section labeled "Prior Roles" or "Early Career" or something similar o List the company name and the role you held, (no dates necessary) o If an interviewer wants more detail regarding the role, they will ask • Brands are Powerful – Leverage their reputation… o Brands like Macy’s, Saks, The Gap, Banana Republic and Limited Brands are just a few examples of brands that have a reputation for HIGH STANDARDS o These brands (and other Iconic Brands) are known for:  Culture  Process/Procedure  Customer Experience  Collaboration   Merchandising o Leverage prior roles to build commonality with the interviewer  Perhaps they worked at the same brand as you in their career  Show your human side and build rapport discussing the business  You may find that you have a common colleague brand connection  This allows the interviewer to reach out to that colleague and get a first-hand confirmation of your expertise from someone they know and trust • Ensure ALL your experience is included either with detail with your most recent roles OR in a “Prior Role” section demonstrates:  Career Progression  Breath of experience  Builds credibility  Provides Evidence of your Accomplishments • Something to consider if you’re shortening your employment history: o No one started their career as a Manager, Director or VP – what got you there? o Eliminating earlier roles completely from your resume can raise unnecessary concerns or questions on what is hidden in your past Be Overt about your Career Successes! Embrace your Experience! Secure that Dream Role!
