Lately, technology has taken yet another step forward, with robots now handling this process.

I had one of these recently on site and the general feedback from the steel fixers was that the tool itself was very heavy and not very easy to tie multiple bars in a row without taking a break, much more heavier than a standard hand drill. Snips are more agile to use as they are light in weight and multiple ties can be made in one motion. This tool is also not much use when chairs and mesh are introduced around the bars as it cannot fit in these tight areas like a pair of snips can. Good idea... just not fully developed yet.

Even in 2005 this wasn’t new.. maybe the batteries are better by now but the machine is already available for years. The first available was in ‘93…

En Chile no sería recomendada, ya que la fijación de armaduras considera una traba con alambre en diagonal y refuerzo doble alrededor de las barras

I will pass this onto the Hong Kong association of steel cutters and benders (rebar). They in 2023 are the highest paid steel fixers in the world, earning HK$2800 per day (that is US$360 per day)

Great machine.. It will save time and effort. Good rebars fastening. 👍

This type of machine has been for the last 10-15 years. What makes a differnece is if they tie hard enough, if the wire are approvable for the job(some can tie both heat hoses and cables and rebar(both fiber and metal types) and there is for all different requirements to the wire, strength and torgue. Makita i have not yet tried but i have a feeling that there is still some way to go before its a number 1 choice and its up to a professional standard but i will check it out soon💁🏻♂️

I think its a good tool, but with my experience on site, this isn´t pratical depending always from the project you are. In a site work when we have a mesh with a high concentraction of steel bars and with high thicknesses, this machine will not work as you predict. To achive a better function of this machine is better you trie in a industrial and site enviorement with the comon workers of steel, there you can get the correct feedback you need to achive a wining tool. But its a great tool, the only thing is that, i beleave you need the correct feedback who works everyday on site with this. Best regards.
