API mocking is an essential tool for developing applications that use APIs. A perhaps lesser understood benefit is the "division of labor" benefit. A mock API frees development teams from having to depend on unavailable, incomplete, or partially working APIs when working on their part of the application. This is of course one of the big reasons Jeff Bezos insisted in his famous memo that all development for the Amazon retail site would use SOA and governed interfaces. Using an interface as a contract divides the work on either side of the interface -- for example the user interface team can work independently of the server side microservices team once they agree on the API spec and load it into the mocking server. Excited to share insights on API Gateway🔥 API Gateway acts as the front door for your application, providing a centralized entry point for all incoming requests. Think of it as a traffic controller for your APIs, streamlining communication between clients and services. Let's understand the need for an API gateway.🤔 In a microservice architecture, there are tons of services like Amazon, It has orders, payments, inventory, products, reviews etc services. Every service is running on different systems and has a different IP address. If the users want to use these services, they have to know the IP address of these services and If any of the services restarts or their IP address changed, accessing these services is very difficult. Here API Gateway came into the picture❤️ Instead of users needing to know the IP addresses of all these services, an API gateway simplifies the process. It acts as a central entry point, seamlessly routing requests to the appropriate services. This means users interact with just one endpoint, making the system more user-friendly and manageable.
