Are mobile visits the key to unlocking higher pediatric participation in clinical trials? New data reveals that pediatric decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) that included mobile visits achieved an average enrollment efficiency of 96.3% compared to 90.1% for pediatric DCTs without them. By reducing the logistical burdens on families, mobile visits not only enhance patient enrollment and retention but also improve the overall quality of data and patient experience. Pediatric flexor tendon zone II repairs: four weeks cast immobilization or an early active mobilization protocol? We recently experienced suboptimal outcomes with limited DIP flexion after flexor tendon repair in pediatric patients (age <10 years) when adhering to our protocol of four weeks of plaster cast immobilization, followed by supervised hand therapy. Does anyone have ideas, clinical experience or evidence for other immobilization protocols to optimize the outcomes?

I am proud that we took a different and new approach which resulted in some great numbers thoughout the entire recruitment process. We knew that the knowledge and awareness of this specific cardiovascular disease were low among the patient population. So instead of communicating about the diagnosis, we communicated about the symptoms. When working with patient communication you have to meet the patients where their level of knowledge is about a given subject or disease. #clinicalresearch #patientcentricity

24 of our referrals were successfully randomised We’re thrilled to share the step-by-step results of our recruitment effort in the cardiovascular HFpEF trial. At James Lind Care, we are working to ease the journey for patients to participate in clinical trials. Here's what we've learned from our work: 🔍 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: When advertising for this cardiovascular HFpEF trial, we focused on communicating about symptoms of the disease rather than the name of the specific diagnosis. This was due to low awareness and knowledge about the disease. Our approach led to great results as many patients showed interest, clicked on our ad and completed the pre-qualification questionnaire. 💬 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Our research nurses informed the patients about the clinical trial, and asked them for their medical history, based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.    👥 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Our research nurses attentively guided the patients through the referral process and fostered open dialogues with them until a decision was made regarding their eligibility for enrolment.    The quality of our nursing team's work, combined with our strong collaboration between JLC, the sites and the sponsor, led to notable randomisation rates. We qualified and referred 186 patients to sites, where 24 were successfully randomised, resulting in a 13% randomisation rate.
