❌ Service advisors and technicians NOT getting along. 🤔 It doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s get the elephants out of the room first, yes these are two totally different jobs, they require entirely separate skill sets, and yes often times each respective position has a pay plan that opposes the other. But even with all that in mind, advisors and technicians are on the same TEAM. I call it “Team Fix the Car.” - Not an earth shattering title but hey that’s what we’re doing here. So if the advisor and technician are on the same team, that makes them teammates. Taking it a step beyond teamates, the advisor and technician are actually partners. Which means they are in a partnership. What elements make a good partnership? Trust, respect, communication, are a few good foundations. ✅ Start with respect. Respect eachother and the work that is done in each role with all the difficulties that come with it. ✅ Follow up with communication. Communicate effectively and often to ensure Team Fix the Car is winning. ✅ Land at trust. Out of the mutual respect and clear communication between the advisor and tech, Team Fix the Car has successfully fostered an environment of trust. Now let’s fix some cars. 😉 —— I’m Chris Craig. Experience vs. Knowledge - A Technician's Valuable Perspective As a dedicated technician with a passion for my craft and a long-standing career, I've had the privilege of collaborating with diverse individuals from various backgrounds. Throughout my journey, I've encountered an important question that often arises in our field: whether to prioritize candidates with extensive theoretical knowledge or those with abundant real-life experience. In my humble opinion, the significance of hands-on experience cannot be overlooked. Technicians who have faced real-world challenges possess a wealth of practical insights that can't be fully replicated through theoretical learning alone. 🚀 Practical Application: I've witnessed firsthand how individuals with practical experience can swiftly apply their knowledge to address complex technical issues and find effective solutions, making a tangible difference in their work. 🎯 Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to navigate unexpected problems and troubleshoot in real-life situations is an invaluable asset that experienced technicians bring to the table, resulting in more efficient and precise problem-solving. 🌟 Adaptability: Working in diverse environments exposes technicians to a wide array of scenarios, cultivating adaptability and resourcefulness, which are key qualities for success in our ever-evolving field. While experience holds immense value, I also acknowledge the significance of theoretical knowledge in certain contexts. Technicians with a strong theoretical foundation can contribute valuable insights, innovation, and an eagerness to explore cutting-edge technologies. As we collectively seek to build skilled and capable teams, let us cherish the balance between experience and knowledge. By recognizing the importance of both, we can create a collaborative and supportive work environment that empowers technicians to excel and drive exceptional outcomes. #TechnicianInsights #ExperienceVsKnowledge #TechnicalExpertise #PracticalWisdom

Having trouble getting a response from your team? Make your communication conversational rather than confrontational 😉 Let them own a piece of the conversation 😊 It’s in those moments where they will buy into your vision. At the end of the day, a technician came to my office inquiring about changes that have been made. What I thought would be a short conversation turned into 90 minutes of really great dialogue about the shop. This technician is one of the voices in the shop and I learned early in the conversation that he was there to fill me in and feel me out. At one point he told me, “you know you’ve said a few things that have upset the guys.” I said, “Good! I want the team to feel challenged and a bit of pressure to change for the good. Pressure is good. Change is good.” It was really a healthy meeting that we both walked away from in agreement. The most encouraging statement I’ve heard in awhile this technician made in closing….. “You know, me and the guys are pulling for you. We have high hopes that you’ll bring the change we’ve been waiting for.” Be the change Lead the change This is why I love what I do….. #conversation #change #servicemanagement #servicedepartment #technicians #fixedops #bethechange #leadthechange #leadservant

Empowering your FMCG business to increase ROI through AI-driven, integrated suite of digital solutions.
Image recognition isn’t just for your field team. I was surprised too. One of my prospective clients showed me how their field personnel monitoring system works. To be honest, it isn’t automated at all. Operators assign tasks and collect reports; all is done manually but through set of apps. You can imagine how overloaded and tired these people are: mundane administrative work eats up most of their time. Sadly, they often leave the company due to this enormous load and inevitable burnout. That results in an above-average staff rotation. So, we have developed a solution, nothing fancy ;) A field technician collects data via IR for both new and completed tasks. The software then handles the subsequent steps, generating reports and automatically filling in all the details about the location, type of task, and both suggested and completed steps to address the issue, including detailed fixture steps. It allocates a specific amount of time for each step of the task, provides a comprehensive report on the time spent by the user, and identifies the most significant bottleneck of the day. As a result, all the administrative work is machine-based. Operators can focus on what they should be doing—guiding field technicians and providing support when needed. How does the client benefit from this? They won’t need to hire and train new operators repeatedly. The turnover drops, and that means two things: huge savings for the HR department and an improved reputation, leading to a multitude of long-term benefits, like easy hiring and a boost in sales. I'm wondering now: Are there more ways to use IR that I'm not aware of? #Imagerecognition #IR #FMCG
