The appeal of vertical #AI to #investors is notably strong, particularly because it promises a more sustainable and profitable path in an era where the market is turning away from mere hypergrowth towards #valuedriven investments. The reasons are compelling: vertical AI projects require less investment in #data and #computing, leading to lower costs and quicker development. They target specific industries, resulting in solutions that are not only more accurate but also tailored to meet precise needs, ensuring faster returns and streamlined customer acquisition. This strategic focus on efficiency, precision, and profitability makes vertical AI an attractive option for today's investors. With thanks to PitchBook. Investors may opt to invest in companies specializing in AI development directly, or they may choose to invest in firms poised to benefit from the broader adoption of AI. Recognizing the potential for AI to displace workers in various sectors, there is an opportunity to identify companies focusing on worker retraining to capitalize on significant shifts in human resources. Here are various investment strategies within the AI sector: • Invest in AI Stocks and Shares: Stocks and shares offer attractive investment avenues within the AI sector, providing potential for high returns, growth prospects, and portfolio diversification. • Invest in AI ETFs: Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) function like mutual funds but are traded on stock exchanges. These funds typically include holdings in companies supporting AI technology growth, offering a convenient investment option. • Invest in Leading AI Companies: Consider investing in established companies with a strong interest and investment in AI, such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. These companies lead in AI innovation and possess the financial capacity for continued development. • Invest in Venture Capital Funds: Venture capital funds provide collective investment opportunities for investors seeking private equity stakes in high-growth prospects, including startups and early-stage companies developing innovative AI technologies. • Invest in Smaller Companies with Innovative AI Solutions: Many smaller companies actively develop advanced AI technologies, presenting both growth potential and associated risks. Before investment, thorough research into a company's financials, management team, and AI industry trends is crucial. . . . Thought leader in start-ups, AI drug discovery, generative AI, health-tech. Reimagining venture capital. Inspirational professor and public speaker. "Entrepreneur of the Year" twice. Made "Fast-50".
Venture Capitalists must become #aiexperts. A new cliche is out in #ai : "Adopt AI or Die". This means if you do not adopt AI, your competition will eventually eat you alive. This goes true for #venturecapitalists too. There are two ways that venture capitalists can and should adopt AI. The first is to use it in investment decision making (with #analytics ), sourcing and evaluating deals and especially management teams (using #LLMs and intelligent #searchengines). A second and even more important way is to, through your #portfolio, establish a standard #aiplatform, and require all your investees to adopt it in their business, so they do not "die". VCs will need AI staffs. It's already happening. I know of two VCs doing this. It is occurring in #aidrugdiscovery and #aiforhealthcare. (Oddly, healthcare is ahead of some industries for adopting AI, unusual for this laggard industry).
