For anyone who works in the field of digital wellbeing, we constantly battle with the need to share what we know in order to help people with their tech habits, but to also not contribute to this digital overwhelm by churning out more and more content that needs people to be online for longer. So what does the success of a piece of content look like through the lens of digital wellbeing? For me, it comes down to two questions: 1️⃣ How am I making my audience feel? 2️⃣ What am I asking of my audience? Let me clarify - If my content makes you feel informed, inspired, or understood, then that to me is a successful content strategy with digital wellbeing at its heart. If my content asks for just a little bit of your screen time in exchange for real value, that to me is a successful content strategy with digital wellbeing at its heart. So if you’d like to apply a digital wellbeing lens to your content or marketing strategy, think about those two questions whenever you’re about to hit share. 👉🏻 Think about the emotions and feelings your content generates. 👉🏻 Think about the time and energy you’re asking from your audience by the amount you create. 👉🏻 And think about the value you’re giving versus the behaviour you’re encouraging when you’re asking people to consume your content. This month, let's focus on prioritising our health and preparing to give back on Mandela Day: 🏃♂️ Health First: Aim for good 30 minutes of exercise or physical activity daily; whenever time permits, and at least 6-8 hours of sleep per night. 🍎 🥦 Nutrition: Very vital to our daily functioning. Nutrition is a critical part of our health and development. Incorporating a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, good starch and protein daily will have us functioning at our optimum best. 🧘 Mental Wellness: Wellness is the act of practising healthy habits on a daily basis, to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of surviving, we are thriving. Dedicate 10 minutes to mindfulness or wellness relaxation. ❤️ 🤲 Giving back: Giving back gives a sense of connection within the community, brings people together and saves resources. Plan to volunteer for 67 minutes on the 18th July, Nelson Mandela International Day to honor his legacy.
