There are two key themes in media that concern the Marketing Procurement community. Both relate to the ability of advertisers to analyse data and money inputs into the supply-chain. Lack of media transparency makes analytics difficult, costs more in loss of effectiveness, efficiency and hidden margins and leads to trust and issues. One is the lack of transparency in the programmatic market, exposed in the recent report from the Association of National Advertisers. The second is the insidious use of principal or inventory media, preventing advertisers from seeing where their advertising lands in relation to what it costs, precisely when they need exactly that information.
