Kamala Harris’ campaign is embracing Gen Z in a HUGE way, doubling their campaign followers in 24 hours… every brand can learn from this masterclass 🥥🌴 Kamala HQ has taken over TikTok nearly overnight, likely with a Gen Z intern/marketing team behind the wheel reacting in real time. Their most viral post on TikTok? A picture carousel to Chappel Roan’s famous song, Femininomenon, with 14M views. Their Twitter aesthetic mirrors that of Charli XCX’s “brat” album which has taken over TikTok, and the singer even tweeted about it: “kamala is brat” getting 47M views in A DAY. There have been several remixes in the past few days including Kamala’s laugh into songs by Kesha, Taylor Swift, and Charli XCX encouraging more fan edits of her iconic moments and sayings like: “you just fell out of a coconut tree?!” Even their Twitter bio leans into her viral memes, saying “providing context.” which shows they’re in the know. The unwavering support of Kamala Harris in the past 48 hours has been incredible to see, raising $250M and earning the support from Democratic delegates. But she’s also won over Gen Z, a massive force when it comes to the upcoming election, by being culturally relevant and TAKING OUR GENERATION SERIOUSLY! There’s been a serious shift in momentum, as well as a new sense of hope, since her endorsement. You can tangibly feel it online, especially in the comments section. How California Pizza Kitchen turned a kitchen mistake into a positive viral video with ~10M views within a couple days ⬇️✨ Last week, a content creator posted a video about how she was having a horrible day & everything was going wrong… so to make herself feel better, she ordered Mac & Cheese from CPK to make herself feel better. As luck would have it, instead of Mac & Cheese, the restaurant forgot the pasta… so what arrived was just a container of melted cheese 🤦♀️ The creator shared this in her video about her rough day, which has now climbed to 3M views & didn’t show CPK in a good light. However, within 4 days, CPK responded with a video that now has 3x the virality on their own channel… owning up to their mistake in a comical way, and also making it up to the original creator who received just cheese in her delivery order. 1️⃣ They posted a video on CPK’s socials showing how to make mac & cheese, adding emphasis that at the end, you have to be sure to add pasta. Everyone had already seen the viral video about the mac & cheese, so CPK was able to tap into the viral moment organically with some classic Gen Z humor… and quickly. 2️⃣ They added a promo code as well for people to order discounted mac & cheese for an entire month from the video, showing direct ROI from their own viral moment. 3️⃣ AND they sent the original creator who had that bad day / cheese debacle a certificate for free mac & cheese as well as free pizza for AN ENTIRE YEAR. All inside a box with uncooked pasta… creating yet another viral video on the creator’s page for everyone following the saga. Taco Bell is opening a... retirement community? Well, it's not *exactly* what you'd think. The Cantinas is a new Taco Bell initiative for their Rewards members happening in San Diego next month... an early retirement community to enjoy all the perks of retiree life (pickleball competitions, fitness sessions) and of course, the best Taco Bell menu items. And the value is actually insane, especially in a world where every fast food chain is RAISING their prices. It's $50 for a day pass which gives you + a guest unlimited access to the grounds, activities, food, and entertainment, or $150 for a weekend pass which INCLUDES overnight lodging. It's hard to even find an Airbnb less than $150/night in today's economy. So again, this screams value - which is right in-line with the $7 Luxe Cravings Box they're promoting through this experience (you get a Chalupa Supreme, Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, Double Stacked Taco, Chips and nacho cheese sauce, Medium-size drink). Both are a steal, and it's an incredible way to appeal to younger, more price sensitive Gen Z consumers. Anyone over 21 can purchase tickets, and they're expected to sell out right away. Taco Bell's slogan is "Live Mas" which translates to "Live More," so this whole experience is entirely on brand with their mission as well. I love this quote from their CMO, Taylor Montgomery, about the partnership: "There’s a common misconception that retirement unlocks the life you’ve been waiting for. And while that may be true for some, we don’t think you should have to wait until 55 to live the life you’re craving.” Taco Bell continues to find ways to be relevant with the next generation... this is just another great example 👏 Experiential and creative marketing for the win. Instead of closing at the usual time of ~11PM, Sainsburys is shutting down the store early so all of their employees can watch this historic game and root for their country. 5 years ago, Olympian Alison Felix walked away from her Nike contract after being asked to take a 70% pay cut because of her pregnancy. Today, she's making history in the Olympic Village supporting athlete moms 🏅 When we talk about authentic partnerships, it doesn't get better than this one between Alison Felix and diaper-brand Pampers. Alison Felix has been advocating for athlete moms for years after her public contract disputes with Nike, valuing her less as an athlete simply because she was pregnant. Plenty of athletes (women AND men) are parents... the Olympics doesn't stop the clock on being a parent or those responsibilities. However, it's taken 128 years in modern Olympic history to have a nursery on-site in the Olympic village. With this new nursery, moms no longer have to choose between being great athletes and great parents. In Felix's words, "This isn't just a nursery; it's a beacon of empowerment. It really tells women that you can choose motherhood and also be at the top of your game and not have to miss a beat." This is purpose-driven marketing, creating a space on-site that actually solves a problem and aligns with a cause that feels authentic for Pampers. I’ve been traveling for 13+ hours to deliver a Taylor Swift presentation in Amsterdam before her show tonight… this is my JOB 🤯 This is definitely a pinch me moment — as a long-time Taylor fan & the top Taylor Swift creator on LinkedIn… you always dream about being able to merge your interests with your career.
