NHS Management Consultant | Operational Strategist | Transformation & Service Redesign | Productivity Solutions | Mentor and Coach to NHS and Healthcare Managers | Career Development for Operational Managers
I was told working for the NHS was amazing. I was young, ambitious, had a fire in my belly to progress. It was 1994 and I was working part time in a local pharmacy. The following year I secured a position as Pharmacy Assistant at the local hospital. Whoo Hooo! That was the start of an amazing career in the NHS It wasn’t long before I had an opportunity to apply to start my training to become a pharmacy technician. It was a competitive interview process with a test to understand academic ability, skills etc. I was successful and I was overjoyed and excited. This feeling of joy was soon overshadowed by comments from seniors saying: “You’ve got the training post, but we don’t think you’re clever enough to complete and qualify”. Wow, that hit really hard. That statement made me question my ability to get through and qualify. It put self-doubt in my mind. My mindset wasn’t where it needed to be to rise above others opinions of me. Afterall, these people didn’t even know me so how they could know what I was capable of. That was the turning point for me, I found the fight: - turned my negative mindset into a positive - spoke positively to myself about myself - carved time out of my life to study, relentlessly That particular statement had a profound effect on my career. I qualified 2 years later as Pharmacy Technician with a distinction. I then went on to complete a BSc Hons Degree Professional Practice and Development MSc Health and Social Care Leadership all as a Pharmacy Technician. Did I have something to prove? You bet! So why am I telling you this story? My career may have been different if I had listened to other peoples negativity and continued to let their view of me impact my mindset, what I thought of myself and the belief I had to succeed. You are in control, of your career and your thoughts. Don’t let others dampen your spirit, put that fire out or dull your sparkle. Keep going, you wont regret it. If you thought this was an interesting read and would like more advice on career development if you are in admin or ops, drop me a message. #NHSCareers #NHS #NHSManager #PersonalDevelopment #CareerDevelopment

#10 Why do you want to work here? This is very similar to the question: “Why did you apply for this position?” Show them that we know what their job involves (at least as much as we could learn from the job description and company website), and that we’re excited to be interviewing for this position. Good answer sample: “I’ve been actively searching for jobs since graduating with my Nursing degree. I’m interested in intensive care and emergency medicine and I’ve seen your hospital mentioned as having one of the best ER’s in the region. I thought the job description matched up well with my background, and saw some of my personal strengths mentioned, like multitasking and being able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, so I’d love to begin my career here.” #thecorporatehelp #interviewtips

A Jill-of-All-Trades Marketer & Digital Strategist | ENFP | Passion for bringing Fun and Authenticity into Marketing & Branding.
In today's digital age flooded with information, consumers are more discerning than ever. Authentic, not highly product content fosters trust, as audiences believe they're engaging with genuine messages rather than traditional promotional tactics. It's about creating stories that blend seamlessly into feeds while fostering genuine connections. Ironically, coming from a production background where I'd invest days, if not weeks, meticulously editing videos and crafting After Effects animations, this was a tough realization for me. It made me reflect on how sometimes, less can indeed be more when it comes to forming real connections. At Job.com, one of our 3 core values is to be" human at the core" of everything we do. I can't stress enough how much I personally resonate with this, especially when it comes to what we put out there. Every article, post, or video we share is more than just content—it's a piece of who we are, our dedication to realness, and being human at the core.
