Its development, if any, is expected to be slow as it moves quickly westward across the Caribbean Sea at 20-25 mph through the weekend. It may strengthen once it reaches the southwestern Gulf of Mexico early next week. Gusty winds and heavy rain are expected in parts of the Greater Antilles over the next few days. The list of "reasons why the Fraser Valley is important" is long. Here are just a few reasons to get it started (and why the rejection by the current Federal Government of the critical - and promised - flood mitigation and recovery funds is such an obvious political slap in the face to everyone who lives here): 1. Food Security. The Fraser Valley has THE most productive per acre agriculture land in the nation. These are the Government's own numbers. 2. The Fraser Valley is the main (and cases only) transportation link from critical West Coast ports to the rest of Canada. Without goods and people moving smoothly in both directions, Canada's economy suffers dramatically. 3. Although housing is expensive, it is a much more affordable choice for families vs Greater Vancouver 4. The region historically has the 2nd highest per capita charitable donation level in Canada. The heart is big, strong and vital. These are just a few of the MAJOR reasons that the Fraser Valley matters and needs the attention of leadership at all levels of government. Please find a way to speak up. #fraservalley #abbotsford CYPE - Company of Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce Alex Mitchell MBA
In The Globe and Mail today, we underline the vital importance of the Fraser Valley not only as an agricultural region, but also as a critical link in Canada's supply chain. ⛓️ Thanks to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for partnering with us to raise awareness of the critical need for the Federal Government to invest in flood mitigation infrastructure in #Abbotsford. https://lnkd.in/gYu2s52g

An area the size of Arkansas has already burned. We have cut the amount of carbon we can emit and still get out of the worst of #climatechange in half in the last 3 years alone. Change is not only not happening fast enough, but companies still profit off this current course. All that has happened is an unmitigated acceleration towards chaos. Canada has burned enough to replicate more than 25% of emissions of 2023... We are losing this fight, how can we turn it around? what are your thoughts?
Canadian officials issued evacuation orders late Wednesday for several communities in the Northwest Territories as an “unprecedented” number of fires affect the area—as a record-breaking surge of wildfires this year char millions of acres across Canada.

$1B will not help the global reinsurance profitability problem - meaning this fire issue is a wind issue for the continental Gulf and Atlantic coasts. Hopefully we can push through the next four weeks with a quieter than normal hurricane season to offset it. #propertyinsurance #coastalproperty #insurance
