Currently developing out in the middle of the Atlantic, tropical storm Lee will be making its way north-westwards over the coming days, likely to have strengthened into a Category 1 Hurricane within the next 24hrs. Storm Lee is forecast to reach at least Category 4 Hurricane status through this weekend, but whether or not the system will make landfall whilst sustaining damaging winds remains up in the air. Nevertheless, expect large swells and possible disruption to Atlantic transport next week. #lngtransport #weatherforecast #tropicalstorm #atlantichurricaneseason

Latest update for Hurricane Beryl. The storm continues to track WNW across the Caribbean Sea. It is expected to impact the Yucatán by late tomorrow night/Friday morning. The storm is expected to reach the lower Gulf of Mexico by early Saturday morning. Uncertainty remains as to strength and intensity of the storm tracks towards northern Mexico/South TX. Uncertainty also remains as to how north the storm will track. Confidence in the forecasted NHC track will go up on Saturday morning for a possible South TX (or near South Texas) landfall by late Sunday/early Monday morning. Residents along the coast of Texas should monitor this storm closely. There is high confidence that beach conditions will go from hazardous to dangerous fairly quickly. Rip currents and coastal flooding is expected. Please visit the NHC website and social media pages for decision making. 6:30 AM 07/03/2024 Credit: South Texas Weather Updates #Texas #WeatherUpdates #HurricaneBeryl

Understanding Hurricane Categories Category One = Winds 74-95 mph. These winds can wreak havoc: Even well-constructed frame homes could suffer damage to roofs, shingles, and vinyl siding. Tree branches will snap, and shallowly rooted trees may topple. Extensive damage to power lines and poles is likely, leading to power outages that could last several days. Irene of 1999 and Katrina of 2005 were Category One hurricanes when they made landfall in South Florida. Tropical Storm Beryl Approaches Texas Coast Beryl, once again at tropical storm strength, is set to strengthen as it heads toward the south Texas coast, bringing a risk of damaging winds, life-threatening storm surge, and dangerous flooding. It is expected to become a Category 1 hurricane before making landfall near Corpus Christi on Monday. Hurricane and storm surge watches are in effect along the Texas coast from the Rio Grande to San Luis Pass, with up to 5 feet of storm surge and 15 inches of rainfall potentially causing significant flooding. Beryl has already caused significant damage across the Caribbean and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, leaving hundreds of thousands of homes without power. It is the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record in the Atlantic, having intensified rapidly due to abnormally warm ocean waters. Jamaica, Venezuela, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines were particularly hard hit, with extensive property damage and severe flooding.
