But they are there to support your choices. An advocate can: listen to your views and concerns help you explore your options and rights (without pressuring you) provide information to help you make informed decisions help you contact relevant people, or contact them on your behalf accompany you and support you in meetings or appointments. An advocate will not: give you their personal opinion solve problems and make decisions for you make judgements about you. The support of an advocate is often particularly useful in meetings when you might not feel confident in expressing yourself. They can: support you to ask all the questions you want to ask make sure all the points you want covered are included in the meeting explain your options to you without giving their opinion help keep you safe during the meeting – for example, if you find the meeting upsetting, your advocate can ask for a break until you feel able to continue. I find it helpful and reassuring to have a third person in the room willing to support my stance... LEADERS ARISE PROGRAM - CORPORATE AND INSTITUTIONAL COHORT WRAP.📌📌 After 5 weeks of professional and leadership capacity building, we are excited to announce the graduation of 24 young promising Zambian 🇿🇲 professionals from our esteemed flagship program,the Leaders Arise Program 🎉🎉. This particular cohort which was dabbed “Corporate & Institutional Cohort” was a hybrid styled 5 week intensive leadership development training that ran officially between the 12th of June 2023 and the 17th of July 2023. The cohort in question was specifically designed to meet the holistic professional development needs of the participants by helping them attain the skills they need to be effective corporate professionals. This particular training was also tailored to build the leadership capacity of the participants through in depth and practical sessions with industry experts that have been mentoring individuals with similar profiles over a number of years. In order to be more effective, we curated non-company specific, but general training material that we were confident would help the participants excel in their current role,in order to become more valuable to the institution that they are currently serving over time. The target demographic for this particular cohort were young Zambian professionals between the ages of 22-35 that are at the entry or mid-level mark of their career progression curve especially those within the corporate space, public or private institutions.
