Excited to Announce My First Day at Neighborly! I feel incredibly privileged to have the opportunity to lead companies built by visionary founders and previous leaders. The greatest honor I can give to those who laid the foundations is to strive to make these companies "better, faster, stronger." Today marks my official Day One with the Growth Team at Neighborly, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to work alongside such talented individuals. Together, we aim to achieve remarkable things for all our constituents: shareholders, franchisees, associates, vendors, lenders, and beyond. I also want to also thank Felix Gernburd, Nick Ramano, David A. Brandon, and Julia Vander Ploeg for the insights, thoughtful dialogue, and support throughout the process, and look forward to delivering on the collective vision. I firmly believe that every day is "Day One," a concept Jeff Bezos has emphasized. This mindset keeps us innovating and improving continuously. I've had the privilege of working with many leaders, but Jo Kirchner and Amy Jackson stand out for their unwavering commitment to their mission. Two great new franchisees and two unique passions driving them! On a recent trip to the tri-state area, I visited several great owners with varying tenure years and portfolio sizes. Two of those visits were with Matt Schiumo -Mathnasium of Hoboken and Mathnasium Goshen-KELLIE GAYTON (pictured), who are #1 and #3, respectively, for student count for centers opened since Jan 2023. During my visits, I learned more about each of their “my center will be a success” approaches and the passion that fuels them.  Matt is driven by a deep “give back” spirit, which comes from a powerful mentor who changed his life. Kellie is proud of owning her own business and being a great role model to her three daughters (two of whom are awesome instructors) on female entrepreneurship. She's led by example that it’s never too late to make a career change. Although both owners come from very different career backgrounds and sources of passion, they are both committed to changing the lives of their students, families, and communities.  The families they serve in their communities LOVE them!  Franchising a Mathnasium center, like any small business, emphasizes the crucial need to ramp up revenue quickly.  Mathnasium’s “ramp” numbers are top-notch, and Matt, Andrew Boules, Kellie, Shreya Trivedi, and Mathnasium of Foothill Ranch are just a few owners driving the strong ramp growth. Unwavering dedication to customer-centricity through an extreme focus on details! Congrats, Kobad Bugwadia and Nancy Bugwadia! As a great mentor of mine often articulated, companies are built on three pillars: product/service, technology, and people.  ·      Products can often be copied, made more efficiently, etc. ·      Technology, especially in today’s business environment, is only an advantage for a moment. ·      People and how they “show up” daily and execute the playbook is what differentiates companies. Breaking people (the most important) down a bit more, what often delineated companies was the attention to detail the people at each company committed themselves to on customer-centricity and all business drivers.  That was a bit of a long way of saying that Kobad & Nancy built their Mathnasium brand in their communities by extreme attention to detail and building vital word of mouth through impeccable kid-glove treatment of every student! Kobad & Nancy have two centers in the Top 15, which truly reflects their commitment to excellence!  At a higher level, it’s the core of franchising in a proven system. The systems are tested and proven to work; it’s from there that each entrepreneur executes at the local level.  It’s about the people! It's a bit late from a year-end wrap-up perspective, but celebrating people is never too late! Mathnasium and our excellent franchisees had a great 2023, and 2024 is off to the same tremendous start, but the slice of the article below brings me great joy. You can’t fix it if you can’t measure it… I’ve been through several Data Warehouse to BI Dashboard buildouts, and this has been the most effective and efficient to date. Mathnasium has 20+ years of rich data on education, sales funnel metrics, length of stay, lifetime value, and every traditional KPI that runs most businesses.  So, illuminating those KPIs via Amazon QuickSight and Amazon Web Services (AWS) services has been a game-changer for Mathnasium and our franchisees.  Tyler Sgro, Jason Condello, Philippe Cavé, and the Mathnasium - The Math Learning Center development team also went above and beyond on this initiative! #continuousimprovement #collectiveintelligence #businessintelligence #franchise
