Founder, Camp Oneness | Proven systems that unite who we are with what we do, to build lives we dream of.
Lack of vision is destroying generations. This isn’t a new phenomenon. A lack of vision isn’t a gen z or millennial problem, I would argue it manifested at the onset of public/mass government schooling. We are trained what to think, not how to think. Our childhood creativity and problem solving is destroyed by the time we enter high school/secondary school. Instead we learn how to robotically regurgitate facts, how to avoid making mistakes, and how to assimilate with everyone else’s perspective. We build our lives based on what others believe we should do. I’ve spoken with countless elders who look back on their lives and realize the didn’t actually live, they simply existed Without a vision for your life, you’re bound to build the vision of someone else. ___ Enjoy this? Repost it to your network and follow Vanessa Fanis for more

What indirectly inspires you? I’ve been thinking about how much my hobbies and interests inform the way I approach work. There’s something to be said for taking inspiration from the things we are most passionate about and transferring elements of that to the workplace. I’ve come up with three indirect inspirations for how I approach my job: · Vulfpeck: A seriously creative independent band whose unique marketing stunts (including silent albums and telethon fundraisers) has helped them reach a wider audience, including articles in Forbes and The Guardian! · Mad Men: One of the best TV shows of all time (in my opinion) really highlighted to me how a simple idea can make all the difference, as long as there is an emotional logic behind it. · The Football Ramble: The UK’s biggest independent football podcast, the Football Ramble has been going since 2007 and continues to innovate, while staying true to it’s roots and building an amazing community. On the surface, these are things I enjoy to pass the time, but on reflection, each helps to shape my approach to supporting clients.

Look around your team. Does everyone broadly look the same, sound the same, have a similar background, education, religious views etc.? If the answer is yes then you probably have an EDI problem. That isn’t to take away from the skills and capability of those people, but the research is pretty strong that diverse teams are more innovative, engaged and perform better. If you lead that team, start to question your recruitment practices. Break away from using the same old Job Description document because that is what you’ve always used, think about where else you can advertise your vacancies to ensure you’ll reach the broadest possible talent pool, and question whether your interview approach allows everyone to shine regardless of their learning and communication style. #EDI #culture #recruitment #leadership
Research has found that some job descriptions can use masculine orientated language putting women off applying for roles. Listen from around 4 minutes as Sarah Howard-Illston shares how the WIT network has helped to ‘decode’ job descriptions encouraging more diverse applications. https://lnkd.in/ewxRNj7b #WomeninTech #zen #podcast Ayshea Robertson , Lien Hayes, Amanda Rogers, Nicola Brumell
