PaveDrain is a great option for parking lots! The PaveDrain permeable paving system has an aesthetic appeal as well as great functionality. PaveDrain can be used for the entire paving project or in conjunction with other paving options like asphalt or concrete. The Permeable Articulating Concrete Block (P-ACB) that creates a performance pavement that integrates the patented arched reservoir to maximize on site stormwater capacity. The PaveDrain System allows for a more natural (vertical) infiltration path, recharging local groundwater and reducing first flush pollutants. So many things can go wrong on a new construction project. We look for more than double the return on a new build than an existing, income-producing asset. And that probably still isn't enough for all the risks inherent in #newconstruction. The Extra Space Storage we own at 1250 Taylor St NW in DC has two levels of finished space below-grade. The week we excavated, a torrential rainstorm flooded the area and the site became "Lake Taylor." Fortunately, we installed extensive de-watering measures and robust waterproofing. BERM IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION Berms in Road construction Berms are small banks on the outside edge of roads and landings.They direct storm water away from erosion-prone fills and flip face to more stable ground. Water then goes to cut-outs sediment traps.The berm was constructed at the same time as the road.The berm has protected the fill.

If people only knew how much water would be traveling around their streets, parking lots, and highways if these RCP pipes were not laid in the ground... We would be driving through lakes in the middle of the parking lot if not for storm drainage during a major rain. Storm drainage is like a flowing river underground. Branches breaking off into smaller streams uphill going to businesses, gas stations, homes, etc. It is fascinating to look at a large scale storm plan and understand how much engineering comes from designing and making sure that there is just enough flow going through these pipe that future expansion can handle it also.

How do you design over 200 storm damage repairs at once? The answer is that you don’t. Working with the KiwiRail engineering team we developed typical solutions and standard details for the North Auckland Line. These cover more minor overslips, underslips, formation and drainage work. This approach reduced the number of bespoke designs that we needed to develop to 36, for the more major damage sites. The image below is site having the typical solution for drainage and formation damage applied.
