Happy to share that I have officially graduated from Columbia Business School and joined Draper Associates as a Venture Capital Investor, where I will lead Blockchain investments.   Those past two years have been an amazing opportunity to reflect on my early career, meet incredible people and try out different things.   Starting in the Blockchain industry nearly 6 years ago, I saw Tim Draper being one of the first large Venture Capitalist to take huge bets on Cryptocurrencies. 🚨Must read: THIS is how we should evaluate whether Blockchain and Web3 is making progress. By what has been developed, not by the price of coins… 🤷🏻♂️Ok, I know to some extent these metrics are interlinked. However I believe market caps are still open to sentiment and misinterpretation, whereas code commits and ecosystem stats are far harder to manipulate. 🧠An important part of Web3 is that most of the code is open source. And also communities grow exponentially and drive the flywheel effect of growth: protocols, developers, users and funders… 🔍 So I find it more important to look at the state of progress in GitHub and other platforms rather than Twitter or Coinmarketcap… This report is a banger, and covers: - Prices vs. Size of dev teams - Key metrics for Ethereum (testnet, downloads, smart contracts) - 5 Stages of Developer Activity (LEARN THIS! 🚨) - Sentiment analysis from developers - Testnets - Layer 2s - Some dApp stats 🐻 If you can read through this and still not feel positive about the direction (maybe not current state) of Web3, and the amount of activity happening in this space, then kindly return to your bear cave and I’ll wake you up again in the summer… What do you think is the best indicator of progress and adoption of Blockchain and Web3? 🚀🌔 #blockchain #technology #management #innovation #metaverse
