🙌🏻 Authentic Leadership Development Coach | Founder of HUSTLE + hush | Leadership Coaching | Manager Training Courses | Workplace Wellbeing Workshops 🙌🏻
I very nearly didn’t become a leadership coach. I resisted it for one, then very nearly two, additional job changes. I had had such an amazing experience with my wonderful coach Wendy Plummer - where it had become abundantly clear that what I loved to do and was really good at, was bringing out the best in ambitious, driven, kind and caring leaders and those around them. It felt like such an obvious next step; to retrain and take the leap into coaching. But I had this weird feeling that if I had worked with a coach - and then wanted to become a coach - that perhaps I’d fallen into a weird pyramid scheme, whereby I’d be then perpetuating the process and converting clients into coaches, left right and centre. Needless to say; that hidden narrative needed some time to surface and work with - before I was able to take the leap, to found HUSTLE + hush LTD and undertake my own coach training with The Institute of Psychosynthesis In the SEVEN years of HUSTLE + hush, I have not seen any of my clients subsequently go into coach training - that’s until this week, on the business’s 7th birthday - when this post popped up from an inspiring ex-client of mine Lucy Nicholls who has just embarked on her coach training this week! And far from a feeling of ICK, I feel nothing but a huge swell of excitement for the journey that Lucy is starting and I’m more than a bit emosh that I’ve had even a small part to play in that. I’m so glad that internal story didn’t end up holding me back from starting the best job I’ve ever had - and I didn’t realise how powerful it would be to have it completely proven wrong as it was this week, by Lucy and my response to her extremely exciting news! If you’re reading this and have a sense that a story you’re currently telling yourself, might be holding you back from starting something amazing - please know that that’s where coaching can be such a brilliantly rich space to get the clarity and confidence you need to step forward and into what’s next. Drop me a DM if you suspect there’s a life changing pivot hovering on the horizon that you’d like some help exploring, our team of coaches would love to support you! Mega thank you to Lucy Nicholls for her post that helped me join all of these dots ✨, you’re going to have the best journey and be a wonderful coach for your colleagues!
This week I was lucky enough to start something big and daunting, but also exciting and invigorating... 🫣🤩 A 16-month long Level 5 Coaching Apprenticeship sponsored by the brilliant L&D team at Dunelm and provided by SCL Professional Why coaching? 6 years ago (when my professional confidence was pretty rock-bottom) Tu-Linh Ngo (she/her), who worked with me at my former employer Boden, recognised the support I didn't know I needed: a brilliant coach in the form of Tee Twyford of HUSTLE + hush LTD and yep... it changed my life! What an absolute honour then, to be given the chance to learn a slice of her skills to help support others at Dunelm - hopefully arming them with some of the invaluable thinking and understanding that I benefitted from, and myself continuing to grow in the meantime. Of course, I couldn't pass up on the opportunity. So here I am, dedicating 6 hours a week to learning, making myself accountable publicly for it (gulp!), and praying my brain won't explode... Thank you Tee for forever being an inspiration, Kieran Leckey for being the best supporter and enabler and Michelle Gamble (nee Love) for the opportunity. p.s If anyone else has completed this qualification, i'd love to hear about it!

I strongly believe that Apprenticeship schemes are the lifeblood of innovation and growth in any business. They bridge the gap between knowledge and practical skills, nurturing talent that fuels our future success. Looking forward to collaborative relationships, investing in people, building skills, shaping careers and inspiring progression. #Progressionteam #TrainingProviders #apprenticeships #Partnership

I am thrilled to announce that the John Lewis Partnership's Progressions team hosted their first virtual engagement session with their apprenticeship training providers yesterday. This momentous occasion was intended to celebrate our connections, express gratitude for our providers' collaboration, and inform our stakeholders of our strategic vision. Our team collaborated with our providers to identify opportunities to enhance our partners' learning experience and increase our efficiencies. We are incredibly grateful for the time and engagement from our providers and we are excited to work alongside them in developing our relationships and supporting us to spend more levy. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all who attended and participated in this event. We were delighted to see so many smiling faces at the end of the session. Big thank you to Paul Duffy for leading part of the session, we're really looking forward to working in partnership with you and your team. You’re fired! 🫵 I get to spend most of my Fridays with this incredible group of healthcare professionals from Kirklees Health & Care Partnership and Calderdale Cares Partnership 🏥 They’re all working towards their Professional Manager Apprenticeships 🎓📜 and are the highlight of my week 🌟 Last Friday we were 🔎 observing how Lord Sugar’s Apprentice teams collaborate (or not 🤔) as part of our wider Stakeholder Relations workshops. We identified these 5️⃣ elements as key to successful collaborations: 🩺 Creating a heartbeat for your project that energises and brings purpose to the team 🗺 Recognising the individuality of each team member and being empathetic to their differing viewpoints – their perspective is what gives the team its edge 🛋️ Promoting an open and inclusive space and showing up fully when you are in that space 📖 Making sure communication is open, honest and two-way 🧭 Being human, by admitting mistakes or recognising challenges to help you stay true to your own, the team’s and the project’s values What is 🗝 to your collaborations?

Did you know that according to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the outdoor recreation industry contributed $11.6 billion to Colorado’s economy in 2021, accounting for 2.7% of the state’s overall economy? That’s nearly a full percentage point higher than the national contribution of 1.9%. In parts of Colorado, the effect is even greater. Check out how our Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office administered U.S. Economic Development Administration funding to support Colorado businesses across the state to promote career development and hiring efforts 👇
Earlier this year, SOS Outreach received $45,000 in funding from OREC, as a recipient of the Colorado State Outdoor Recreation Grant program. This funding provided SOS with additional staff capacity to expand their Career Development Pipeline program, which places high-school students in summer apprenticeship programs within the outdoor recreation industry. The seven-week program takes place in the summer and is two-fold. The first two weeks are spent in a classroom, learning and developing professional skills. Following this classroom portion, the students interview for positions and are then matched to a local employer where they partake in a five-week apprenticeship. “The powerful thing has been kids getting into jobs that they never thought were for them — working in the ski industry, helping to design skis or coordinating athlete visits for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard team or managing stores — they have been very appreciative and very excited for the experience that’s been provided through this,” said Seth Ehrlich, SOS’ Executive Director.
