It's Christmas in July! 🎄 Our Charlotte and Matthews teams had the joy of volunteering at Matthews HELP Center, an organization that provides emergency assistance to neighbors in need. “Ripple Fiber donates internet services to Matthews Help Center, allowing us to connect with our clients, customers and community. This month, we were overjoyed to have dynamic employee volunteers from Ripple Fiber to help us sort more than 150 boxes of Christmas items. We will sell these items in our thrift store which directly benefits our mission to help provide assistance to individuals experiencing financial crisis. We are grateful for the joy, positivity and productivity their team brought to us.” Melinda Wilshire, Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement. Seven months ago, I took a leap of faith on a part-time job at the Matthews Help Center to fulfill a career-long dream of working for a non-profit in the hope that it would lead to a full-time opportunity. As my incredible manager Molly Hedrick heads into retirement, I’m happy to share that I'm taking over for her as the Director of Retail Operations at Matthews HELP Center! Matthews Help Center provides short-term crisis assistance to those in need in the greater Matthews community. Sales from the center's retail operation, Backporch Treasures Thrift Boutique, provide a significant portion of the financial assistance given out each year. We accept donations Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, and Backporch Treasures is open for shoppers Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. Stop by and visit us if you're in the area. There's a treasure waiting for everyone who steps in our doors, plus the smiling faces of the more than 180 volunteers who keep this incredible organization humming each week.

Join us for a fun-filled day of community and golf to support local families in need. We would love to have your participation. Local families continue to struggle to make ends meet, that is where we can HELP provide financial and non-financial support. But we need you! Let's work together. See you soon.
