Like many other #climatetech startups, Liminal have been affected by the SVB Bank collapse. We founded Liminal, an SVB depositor, in 2016 with a mission to catalyze a clean energy future, with a focus on helping electrify the automotive industry. The electric vehicle and battery #manufacturing industries are crucial to the American economy, as well as our nation’s energy and industrial independence. Liminal Insights is commercializing a technology that makes it easier to scale up manufacturing of Li-ion batteries that are safer, higher-performing, and lower-cost. If we are successful, EVs will quickly become affordable for everyone. Liminal employs 37 people in California and Massachusetts, and we continue to hire as we establish and grow our manufacturing operations in the US. We are a team of every-day people who are united by our desire to build something new that has a major impact on the world. Our team members are parents who are providing for their families, some who have welcomed their first child since joining our company. Many team members are renters who are saving to make a down payment on a home, while others are paying off their mortgages. We also have team members with elderly parents who depend on them for care. Liminal Insights is lucky to have the support of wonderful investors who are offering support of all kinds. We are sharing our story to reinforce the needs of the broader climate tech industry and the many employees, local suppliers, and service providers who are impacted by this crisis, through no fault of their own. America’s climate tech and innovation sector is at risk if startups like us do not regain access to their hard-earned deposits at SVB, which go to pay our employees, vendors, and service providers.
