Someone kept dropping off building blocks at Ralph’s house every morning. He didn’t know what to make of it. Life will always throw you blocks. It’s your choice. They can be stumbling blocks or building blocks. It’s called “reasoning from first principles.” You break the problem down into its basic elements. Then re-build by learning how each building block fits and works with the other blocks. Rote learning comes because “they” said so. Learning by doing, discovering for yourself, gives you more than mere head knowledge. It gives you heart knowledge, ownership, revelation. Wanna get started? The innocence and unbridled enthusiasm of 2nd graders remind me of the magic and wonder that can be found in the world of education, making it a truly fulfilling and inspiring vocation. Their energy and curiosity drive me to create engaging and dynamic lessons that cater to their ever-evolving interests. Second graders also teach me valuable lessons about patience, adaptability, and the power of encouragement, as they embark on the incredible adventure of exploring the world of knowledge. 

Age 17: Became a glazing apprentice at my cousins small business 'coz all of my high school mates did. Age 19: Realised glazing had ceiling and wanted more, so I started studying business at night school. Age 20: Quit glazing to apply for special entry to Uni (didn't have the grades for normal entry). Age 22: 2 years into my degree, transferred to RMIT in Melbourne after a painful breakup to challenge myself. Age 25: Landed my dream job. Head of marketing for public finance company with my first direct report, earning $100K a year. Age 27: MELTDOWN! Redundant from dream job, relationship ended. Deep inner emptiness. Age 29: Started Alchemy Breathwork Grew a client base on +1,200 people, did over half a mil, and built a team of 4. Age 32: Massive misalignment with my core values, lost passion, stopped enjoying helping people heal trauma - MELTDOWN round 2! Age 33: Present time. Discovered what I LOVE doing, am very good at, and people desperately want... and it's a high value service so I can charge a lot. Launched ICON, Stand Out brand development for legacy-fueled people. My point is... We’re always evolving. And those of us who 'wake up' to ourselves, face our issues, and actively choose to live the most incredible life possible will rise and fall on the journey. That's OK. The more difficult the challenges, the more incredible highlight reel we get to look back on when our time is up. You either get incredible success or an incredible story. Sometimes it's both, either way, they're both a win. May your vision be greater than your perceived personal limitations.

❓what are you hoping students experience on the first day of your class? For 1st day, I like to model the vital joy that comes from intellectual engagement—not so much the summer-camp-style “two truths and a lie thing,” which feels corny and inauthentic. 🌽 I use Eugeni Zuroski’s “Where do you know from?” to do this. (I’ll link to her description of the activity below) What do you do for an engaging but non-🌽 1st day?

🍀At Home Activity of the Week: Bell Pepper Shamrock 🌈 Supplies needed: 🍀 Bell pepper 🍀 Green paint 🍀 Construction paper 🍀 Paintbrush 🍀 Instructions: 1️⃣ Cut the top off of a bell pepper 2️⃣ Pour some green paint on a paper plate, making sure it is large enough for the circumference of the pepper 3️⃣ Press the open part of the bell pepper into the paint 4️⃣ Stamp the pepper firmly against a piece of construction paper 5️⃣ Add a little stem to the 4 leaf clovers and you're done! Let them dry! 🍀 Enhance the fun and learning: 🌈After drying, encourage kids to practice their coloring skills by filling in the shamrocks with crayons. 🌈Once dry, have them circle the shamrocks and cut them out, boosting cutting skills. 🌈Transform the cutout shamrocks into stepping stones for an obstacle course, promoting gross motor development. 🌟 🌟 For the full tutorial including pictures, check out the original blog post from Crafty Morning here: https://lnkd.in/gN7SUQeG
