From On-Site Nerves to Valuable Lessons... The date was Monday, April 6, 2015. The setting? My office, buzzing with anticipation as my board arrived for an on-site visit. It was just a few days before I was due to deliver my Core Business Presentation (CBP). Our chair at the time was Mike Sharrow, and though our group has seen a few new faces since then, the essence of those gatherings remains the same. I vividly remember those early years: the nervous excitement of having my peers visit my company, engage with my team, and the challenge of preparing and delivering all the necessary information. Now, nearly 11 years into my C12 journey, I find myself at the familiar crossroads - preparing for another CBP. Sure, the butterflies still visit and the information can feel overwhelming at times. Yet, I approach it with enthusiasm and purpose, reminding myself that 'Iron sharpens iron' (Proverbs 27:17). What better way to grow than in the company of my close-knit band of brothers (and sister!). From these experiences, I've gathered invaluable insights that I'd like to share: ⏳ Prepare in advance: Allow time for your peers to review your CBP - they're here to help. 🗣️ Be thorough in your explanation & craft solid questions: Your board needs all the background information to provide meaningful feedback. 💗 Be vulnerable: The more open you are, the better your peers can help. 👂 Listen: Don't argue. Instead, take every piece of advice on board and follow through on what makes sense for you. 🙏 Pray: Ultimately, you're trying to discern God's will through your brothers' insights. Navigating through a CBP can feel like a daunting task, but it's an enriching experience that brings growth and clarity.
