I expect most of you can easily tell me some facts about your work and organisation. But could you tell me a story about your work? Could you tell me the story of your organisation and what it achieves? Research shows storytelling is a far more effective way to communicate what you do, and reach and impact clients, customers, collaborators and others. We run storytelling workshops that can help advance your business, so if you'd like our help, get in touch. Here's what previous clients say about us: "This made me think about story-telling in a whole new way, and will definitely change the way I will communicate to our audiences. As someone with an English Literature degree, I thought I already knew about story-telling, but this training was eye-opening in the way that it helped us all to think about how to directly apply skills to our work, and find the stories which are hidden in our day-to-day and which we may otherwise overlook."

𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵? It all depends! But let’s be honest: if you are introduced by a moderator, or if your audience already knows you, it doesn’t make sense to introduce yourself again. In most of my training sessions, there is no introduction. In most cases, it's the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 between audience and myself. Relatively soon after the introduction, I share an insight into my career, with its ups and downs, and my path as an academic to my current work as a trainer. I talk about my passion. It's a good fit here because it allows me to 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 to storytelling, which is part of the training and interests most of the participants. By sharing insights with them, I create a personal connection. The actual topic must remain the 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 of the presentation though. Imagine you are talking about your current project: you can occasionally include brief insights, anecdotes, or even a personal story. It should remain within the framework of the question: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

Looking for opinions: I am developing some video modules based on my experience working with speakers for the TEDx stage. The idea is to use TED speaking fundamentals (e.g. finding your compelling big idea and using storytelling, conversational language and authentic emotion to get buy-in). Each module will be about 30 minutes and include additional resources to extend learning. Two questions: ** For anyone how has done this, what do you use to create your courses (e.g. SkillShare, TrainerCentral, etc.) -- and anything you wish you knew before you started? ** For anyone who read this and thought, "Hmmm... that sounds interesting..." what do you want to know MOST? I am thinking of doing the first course on coming up with a great big idea.

'Seriously Sticky Storytelling' for subject matter experts, change agents, science communicators, and tourism professionals. • Helping you craft talks and experiences that deliver self-sustaining connections and results
Training shouldn’t suck, but it often feels like a loss of time you will never get back. What I love most about what I teach is that light bulb moment where my public or my students suddenly ‘get it’. As an educator there is nothing more satisfying than watching someone start taking the ideas you teach and use them to create something glorious. I love taking great ideas that often lurk behind lots of jargon and making them accessible and exciting. After all, what good is training that no one wants to use! Whether you want to certify your guides with the NAI's Certified Interpretive Guide program, roll out a custom training to meet your long term goals, or learn skills in smaller bites with Sticky Storytelling or Memorability Magic, there are lots of ways to get started enriching your speaking with tools that produce results. If you are ready for things you care about to matter to more people, check out my website to learn more about the work. Or message me here and lets talk about what you want most from your next training! #heritageinterpretation, #changemanagement, #storytelling, #publicspeaking, #stickystorytelling

Speaking Coach for High-Achieving Leaders | Improv Business Consultant - I help organizations & individuals transform "Yeah, But" challenges into "Yes, And" solutions! | Award-winning Author
Public speaker training is SO much more than just eliminating the "umms" from your presentation. You can be composed/articulate and your message still may miss the mark. People want to be transformed and inspired. If you cannot capture the attention of your audience within the first few moments of opening your yapper, you may never get them on board. Think about WHY you are even wanting to speak in the first place. What was it that transformed YOU? Why do you care so deeply about what you feel compelled to share? You must find that anchor within yourself first in order to transcend into someone else’s space to be a positive influence for change. If you have a message you need to share with the world, I’ve got a process that will take you and your speaker presence and messaging from zero to pro in no time. Register today for this incredible, immersive 2-day speaker training designed to be accessible to anyone who is ready to become a speaker.

“Every time you share new information, you are asking your audience to LEARN.” - Emily Miller, President of Dignified Learning That’s why when creating instructional materials, emails, or writing any type of communication, it’s important to think about your audience. To reach them effectively, you have to first think like them and understand their mindset🤔 Let’s say it’s your team that’s being taught. Throwing information at their face, like a lecture, probably won’t get them excited to learn… You need to think about delivering information in a way that’s convenient and helpful! 💎 Are you already sharing information with this empathetic approach? If not, you should try it out and let us know how it works.
