One of the most fascinating aspects of animation is the creation of visual continuity and motion, through still images. While technology may have changed the way animation works today, it hasn’t changed the underlying mechanism of the craft. If you’ve ever seen anything move on screen, persistence of vision is at play. You don’t need to be an animator to understand the fundamentals of animation. If you’ve ever created a flipbook, you’ve used persistence of vision. It is the basis for animation, motion picture technology and cinematography. Persistence of vision is the optical phenomenon where the illusion of motion is created because the brain interprets multiple still images as one. When multiple images appear in fast enough succession, the brain blends them into a single, persistent, moving image. #persistenceofvision #cinema #animation #film #cinematography https://lnkd.in/d6vm58vE

The first project I used #cinema4d for Spring Studios. The campaign for Lee Jeans involved camera tracking and the post team separating the girls from the background to replace it with a wall they could interact with so you could see the impact they had on the wall. There were a few different ways to approach this effect but after some R&D I found Cinema4D was the way to go. #motiongraphics #motiondesign #compositing #cinema4d #aftereffects

One of the most underrated Walt Disney Animation Studios films is "Meet the Robinsons." It's a stellar story, full of heart and wit, and it's often forgotten because it is a bit of an oddball in the studio pantheon. But it also contains one of my very favorite #WaltDisney quotes. Before the credits roll, the film ends with these words: "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." I love this mindset so much. As someone who has had great success in the past, I find myself often waxing nostalgic for the things that were. But getting stuck in our routines and comfort zones, afraid to venture out and try something new, is no way to grow. As Walt knew, growth and progress come from taking risks and embracing the unknown. So, a bit of wisdom for #WaltWednesday: Whether it's a new project at work, a new hobby, or a new relationship, don't be afraid to step outside of where you are comfortable and try something new. Sure, it might be scary at first, but the rewards are often greater than we could have ever imagined. Walt tried the risks, and sometimes the gambles failed--and sometimes it led to a whole new world of storytelling he'd never dreamed of. I can easily stay where I am. So often it's easy to just keep going through the same motions and keeping the same mindset every day. What would happen to you or me if we followed Walt's example? What if instead of staying put or looking backward, we #keepmovingforward, trying new things and opening new doors.
