🌍 **Report on Corporate Sustainability: Commission Welcomes Guidance on Interoperability of European and Global Sustainability Reporting Standards** The Commission welcomes the guidance on interoperability between European and international sustainability reporting standards, published today by EFRAG, advising on European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). These guidelines provide support to companies wishing to comply with both standards, with a particular focus on climate reporting. 📈🌿 In designing the ESRS, the Commission collaborated with international bodies to ensure that European standards effectively incorporate the global foundation while preserving the EU's transparency ambition. Today's published guidelines acknowledge these efforts. They demonstrate that EU companies reporting according to European standards can comply with global standards with minimal additional effort. This reflects the Commission's commitment to minimizing the administrative burden on companies regarding sustainability reporting. 💼💡 Mairead McGuinness, Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability, and Capital Markets Union, stated: "Climate change is a global challenge. I welcome today's guidance, which acknowledges the Commission's sensible approach to sustainability reporting and its commitment to ensuring a very high degree of alignment between EU and international sustainability reporting standards. It is important that reporting frameworks in different jurisdictions are interoperable to reduce the reporting burden for EU companies." 🌍🤝 EU sustainability disclosure rules aim to provide investors and other stakeholders with the necessary information to assess companies' impact on people and the environment, as well as the financial risks and opportunities arising from climate change and other sustainability issues. The first companies subject to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will report according to ESRS in 2025 for the 2024 financial year. 📊🌱 🔗 [Corporate sustainability reporting: Commission welcomes guidance on interoperability of European and global sustainability reporting standards - European Commission](https://lnkd.in/exf4ZY99) #Sustainability #Reporting #EU #Interoperability #ClimateChange #CSRD #ESRS #ISSB #EFRAG
