Last week, I was pleased to take part in the #Automotive News Europe Congress, where I discussed multiple aspects of the future of mobility with #PeterSigal. Among other things, we talked about the shift to alternative #powertrains. Despite varying legislative frameworks, infrastructure challenges, and differing customer demands in regional markets, it is clear that #electromobility will be the predominant technology for #decarbonizing the passenger car sector worldwide. But electric motors and combustion engines will keep working together for some time still. This is why Bosch Mobility continues to advocate the use of all technologies that will help mitigate climate change – from electric powertrains and high-performance hybrid powertrains to plug-in hybrids and range extenders. No other company covers as many electromobility options as we do, including technologies that will help make electric vehicles more affordable, such as silicon carbide chips for power electronics that extend electric range. Between 2019 and 2023, we doubled the number of customers in business segments related to electrification, and we expect our electromobility business to grow to six billion euros in annual sales by 2026. This year, we are launching several large-scale products for electric powertrain solutions for our major European customers. So small, yet so important: semiconductors are key enablers in consumer electronics and new mobility concepts. Bosch Mobility is one of the leading #semiconductor suppliers for the automotive and consumer goods industries – and we are systematically expanding our semiconductor business to ensure that we meet the increasing demands for these tiny chips.   Recently, I had the opportunity to get a first-hand impression of the efforts Bosch is putting into this important business: I visited our wafer fabs in Dresden and Reutlingen. In Dresden, associates from more than 24 nations manufacture ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits) and low-voltage power semiconductors on 300-millimeter wafers for vehicles and industrial applications. Our fab in Reutlingen, also manufactures low voltage power semiconductors, as well as MEMS sensors, ASICs and high voltage SiC power semiconductors which play an essential role in making electric vehicles more efficient.   Dresden and Reutlingen are not the only wafer fabs in our global semiconductor manufacturing network: Our new fab in Roseville, California, is set to start with the production of their first SiC semiconductors in 2026. And of course, the wafer fabs are just one aspect of our semiconductor business. We have established a unique network of research facilities and external partners for production and testing. In our worldwide manufacturing network, we currently handle chips at more than 47 sites in 17 countries – a truly astonishing team effort!
