I am looking for a job for my wife that allows her to stay at home with our daughter or something that she's able to keep our daughter with her most of the time. She would be interested in keeping another families children if they need child-care throughout the day. She would also be interested in any sort of social media/marketing help she can be to a company in Fort Wayne. She is very friendly and open to suggestions! Any other thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!

There’s a fine line between effective virtual networking on social media and building a whole brand. This post by Brittany Sharnez is so insightful I had to post my own ideas. I’ve never thought about it like this! For me, building a brand and posting content online is therapeutic. I get to connect with people who have similar interests and maybe help others along the way. It’s a win-win for someone like me. But it is hard work! Don’t get me wrong. A lot of days I sit and wonder why the hell I’m even posting 😩 negative self-talk has a way of making things difficult but I’m not deterred. I committed to 1 month of consistent content and I aim to accomplish that. At the end, I can pivot or stop if that’s what’s best for me. I don’t think you have to post engaging content to land the job you want. Having a strong profile and networking with people in your target industry has always been enough for me. Creating engaging content is just a plus and I think it helps you stand out but it’s not necessary (shouldn’t be) unless your target role is social media management. I’ve been headhunted a handful of times and some were relevant but most were not so there’s a lot to be desired there. The algorithm ain’t ithiming 😅 THAT BEING SAID, as an introverted, neurodivergent, anxious-prone single mom of 3, I empathize with this post. You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to compete in this job market. Recruiters should not be searching your page for content. Feel free to only use this platform to network when looking for a job or maintain industry knowledge while working. If you learn a thing or two from scrolling, all the better. No need to join the LinkedIn influencer rat race! We got enough of those 😭 gon let them be great and just stay in my lane. 💁🏾♀️
YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TO BE A LINKEDIN INFLUENCER TO LAND THE JOB YOU DESERVE! I know it’s common advice on this app. “Want to never have to job search?” “Want recruiters to come to you?” “Build a personal brand!” Building a brand is work. Does it not piss you off that it’s no longer good enough to come to a JOB BOARD and search for a JOB from companies that are HIRING?? Instead, on top of the work you’re already doing, you have to also commit yourself to building a brand?! Geez… it’s not that this generation doesn’t want to work, it’s that to work you have to jump through complicated hoops just to land a great role (and even after that sometimes there are still unnecessary hoops to jump through, but that’s for another post).

Landing a job should be an occasional happy byproduct of having a personal brand NOT the reason you need to have one. I 💯 cosign this post! I love personal brands. I've had one for years in various forms. But that was because I was either fully self employed (and selling services as the sole provider), or doing the same on the side. When I joined LinkedIn last year, sensing an impending layoff from my first 9-5 job, I started posting as much as possible to build up a network in the muggle world, something I had none of at that point. Because of course as many eyes and ears you can have supporting you on your search is helpful. 🫠 But job searching was exhausting and daunting. 🫠 Starting a new job with a huge learning curve was exhausting and daunting. 🫠 Half the time just existing in this capitalist hellscape is exhausting and daunting. So the idea of *needing* to create a personal brand on top of [gestures broadly] just to be able to land a job you are wildly qualified for is untenable. Luckily the comments from actual recruiter/ HR folks seem to confirm this *isn't* necessary. And I know that many folks sharing this idea are positioning it as an option vs. requirement.... ....but in today's insane job market it really can feel like ignoring "optional" recommendations means you're doomed. So, for those of us who *do* post content- A reminder for us to be careful about what messages we are spreading and how we're positioning things so that it's actually helpful and not just another exhausting and daunting to do for someone.

I honestly agree with this. As someone who truthfully is more of a person that doesn’t like the limelight (even though if needed, I can do it), the thought have making myself a personal brand on any platform does show me that it takes a lot of work, time and dedication. One guy that I admire (I won’t oust his name) mentions about having a personal brand a lot and I never was comfortable with the idea. I believe companies should hire based off skills and the interpersonal connections made between employee and employer. Branding does have leverage, I can’t deny that. However, just like how not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur, not everyone needs a personal brand and that’s ok. Leverage yourself in other avenues such as what I mentioned before. Skills, interpersonal connections (networking) go a long way and I’m experiencing this firsthand.

I saw a post last week that said you know you're job hunting when you’re “checking LinkedIn more than Instagram” 😂 Seriously, it hit home! Let's be real, we're all guilty of some social media scrolling, but lately, my feed has been more about connections and career moves than memes and food pics! I mean, think about it - LinkedIn has become like our virtual water cooler. It's where we catch up on industry gossip, share wins (and sometimes losses), and connect with folks who could be our next boss, colleague, or mentor. So, if you're in the same boat, just know you're not alone! Let's keep networking and hustling because you never know when that dream job opportunity might pop up on your feed. 🚀👩💻 #CareerGoals #LinkedInLife #OpenToWork #ArtDirector #ContentProducer #CreativeProducer #BrandMarketing #ContentMarketing #ContentStrategy #DigitalMarketing #Marketing

Job searching has its ups and downs, making you feel excited one second and despondent the next (like Repunzel right after she leaves her tower in Tangled), so it's important to celebrate the little wins. Here are my little wins over the last month: - Created a marketing strategy and plan for a B2B real estate photography startup. - Provided resume guidance for a stay-at-home mom looking to return to the workforce. - Drafted the first blog article for a local services business and optimized keywords on a few of its web pages to help it rank higher in search. - Adjusted my job searching strategy. Please share your little wins in the comments! #opentowork #marketing

It’s not my first time receiving an email like this. Are people really turning LinkedIn into a dating site? I have moved to Dublin and been looking for marketing roles here. The job market in Dublin is insanely competitive (or is it just me?). I tried to connect with people in the field and reached out to recruiters, but I don’t receive much feedback, well, except emails like this. This is kind of frustrating. To me, LinkedIn is a place where we can all connect professionally and seek career advice, etc. If anyone looks for dating, why not move to other social apps or dating sites? #linkedininmail #career #professional #dating #linkedIndating #marketing #connections

🤔 Seeking advice from the LinkedIn community! What's your take on reaching out to a company via phone after applying for a role? Is it a savvy move or a potential faux pas? I'm tempted to pick up the phone and introduce myself, but I'm torn.
