Are there emergencies in the nursing of education and professional development? I was surprised to live through the educational emergencies like Covid, Contingency, Policy Mandates and more. It was mind expanding to learn how other organizations employ their resources to address educational emergencies in nursing. @Marti Butlar and @Kristi Powell took us on a journey of effective planning and execution of urgent educational needs in Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) webinar. Nursing Professional Specialist assumes ownership, coordination, assessment of the learning needs, communication with leadership and stakeholders, collaboration, development of educational plans and content, and tracks the outcomes. I enjoyed the application of Kotter’s 8 steps Process for change in the developing the strategies for the urgent educational and professional development needs: 1. Create the sense of urgency. 2. Build a coalition. 3. Form strategic vision. 4. Create a dedicated team. 5. Identify/predict and eliminate barriers. 6. Celebrate the wins along the way. 7. Keep the momentum. 8. Expand the change. I appreciated the reminder to step back and do not rush into decisions during the time of urgency. I remember this helped me during the critical situation caring for my loved oncology patients. When I learned to step back and rationally assess the situation when the world spinning fast around me, I became a better clinician. https://lnkd.in/gHtbNxAH #CEPD #SHC #promotingcivility #civilitystartswithus #caritascoach #nurseonlinkedin #stanfordnuring #stanfordhealthcare #nurseleadership #leadership #professionaldevelopment

Great examples of partnerships are growing across the U.S. including Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing #nursingeducation #accesstocare #healthcareworkforce #preceptors

Thoughts on nursing education from Hannah Shufeldt, DNP, MSHCM, RN, CNOR 💭 “It takes someone with experience just taking that step back and taking time to work with that nurse and saying ‘Hey, tell me what you HAVE done. What do you feel comfortable with? What do you need to work on, and how can we meet together to get you what you need? Help me teach you.’” Read more of our top quotes from 2023👇
