Dear Friends, Hard as it is to believe we are in the midst of planning our second fundraising event for The Jim Hogan Memorial Foundation. As a family we found the foundation not only to be a great way to honor a man that had an unparalleled passion for what youth sports programs mean to children, but also a way to keep his spirit alive. This year we are once again hosting The Jim Hogan Memorial Golf Tournament that will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Crescent Club in Huntington, NY. We very much hope you will consider joining us! Our event last year raised just over $35,000.00 and we worked with Dick’s Sporting Goods and their partner, Good Sports, to determine where our donation would go. Our 2023 donation will provide new sports equipment to the East Orange NJ Jr Jaguars Football Program. This is a youth program that is purely run by volunteers who give of their time and if possible, their own funds to keep it going. The community funds are incredibly limited to cover safe equipment , like new helmets and pads, and also fees associated with participation. You may not be able to join us in July, but consider sponsorship, a donation of an auction item or simply a donation to the Foundation. Details on the event can be found at https://lnkd.in/gEss9VSQ While our loss remains a constant in our hearts, we do know that Jim is smiling knowing he continues to make a difference to youth sports.

Australian Sports Foundation For over 30 years the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) has helped sporting clubs and organisations across the country, from the grassroots and community level, to professional and elite national level, even individual athletes, to fundraise for sport. They have helped raise over $300 million in additional funding for Australian sport which has resulted in more opportunities for people to participate in sport at all levels. With almost 2,000 projects and 1,200 organisations and athletes signed up, they received $32 million from more than 9,800 donations in 2016 alone! Fundraising4Sport (F4S) is their main fundraising program and it is just that - fundraising for individual athletes through to large organisations, from grassroots to professional and representative levels. And the unique thing about fundraising through ASF is that your donors can get a tax deduction for their donation - something not usually allowed for donations for sporting activities. So if this is of interest to you, I suggest you check out the ASF HERE (https://lnkd.in/gsaz7wxX) and find out how they can help you or your sporting body to raise funds for sports-related activities. #grantspotlight #notforprofit

What is your agency giving back to your community? A quick look at what agents can learn from one of my best footballing experiences in years.
Daily Idea 343 Many agents sponsor school Christmas fetes within their communities. Several agents put their hands in their pockets to fund local sports team’s kits. Others donate to toy appeals, food bank collections, local good causes, and charities. This is all admirable stuff because they don’t have to do it. But something happened last Saturday that reminded me of the importance of showing up and not just splashing out. Let me explain. We try to support our local non-league club, Seaford Town FC, as much as possible. We do this mainly through sponsorships and attending games when we can. But last weekend, they held an All-Inclusive tournament for adults and kids that gave players who wouldn’t usually get to compete in this kind of competition the chance to experience it. Along with my 11-year-old daughter, I volunteered to help on the day. It was one of the best things I’ve done in ages and up there with my most memorable football experiences. I found it humbling to see such sportspersonship, great to watch some lovely football and beautiful to witness people experiencing the pure joy of playing a game they all love. Loads of volunteers, including kids, gave up their Saturday to make it all possible- a real team effort. My point here is not a ‘look at us, aren’t we wonderful?’. No, today’s idea is about donating time to the causes and events your agency supports. I feel you’ll get more out of it on a personal level. It helps you meet new people and forge new relationships in your community. So, don’t just put your money in. Put something even more valuable, your time.
