Did you know that Università Ca' Foscari Venezia was the cradle of management studies in Italy?
Ca' Foscari, founded in 1868 as the 'Regia Scuola Superiore di Commercio' (Royal Higher School of Commerce), represents an academic stronghold in the heart of Venice, a city steeped in history and culture. Its inception coincides with a period of intense economic and commercial growth, during which Venice played a crucial role in the commercial circuits of the time.
The year 1971 marked a significant chapter in the history of VSM and Ca' Foscari with the introduction of the first Bachelor's Degree in 'Economia Aziendale' (Business Administration) in Italy. In the same year the bachelor degree was also activated in Bocconi University, in Milan.
This bold and revolutionary decision anticipated the growing importance of this discipline in the academic landscape, further consolidating Ca' Foscari's reputation as a center of excellence in the field of business school and business economics.
The Venice School of Management (VSM) traces its roots back to this historical context, emerging as the Department of Economics and Business Administration in 1984.
Since then, VSM has played a pioneering role in higher education in the field of business and management education.
