I sent this message to NBC last weekend. I believe it speaks for itself.
"Dear NBC News:
I am writing to express my absolute disgust and repulsion with your organization for hiring a republican shill like Ronna McDaniel. Seriously, what were you thinking? It's not as though she is a brilliant political mind who will share magnificent insights with your viewers.
McDaniel is NOT what your viewers need. Let her go work at Fox so-called News or Newsmax or some other right-wing media scam outfit. The Fairness Doctrine is no longer in place, and there is no legal requirement for a news outlet to promote "both sides" when it comes to politics. That whole "both sides" notion needs to go, because it is less than worthless. There was a time when Democrats and Republicans had legitimate points to make and were worthy adversaries. That time has come and gone. Republicans have nothing—NOTHING—of substance to offer the nation, and McDaniel will not be a legitimate asset to your company or to your viewers.
Why do large media companies like NBC insist on promoting the illusion of "fairness" when it comes to reporting the news? Reporting the news is not about being "fair": it's about telling the truth. If you were really fair, you would broadcast all of the jackassery and chicanery that Trump and the GOP are pulling on a daily basis. America is being destroyed by the greed and inhumanity of Republican politicians, but the mainstream media seems fixated on Trump and won't call out his constant lies or the very real threat he and the GOP pose to democracy. (And why is that? We know why, and so do you. It's because Trump gets ratings, clicks, and eyeballs, and the almighty dollar trumps everything, doesn't it? Sensationalism sells, and Joe Biden isn't sensational. He's just doing a great job quietly and effectively--but that doesn't pull ratings like Trump, does it?)
The U.S. will be toast if Trump somehow cheats his way into the White House again, but your network isn't telling people about that awful truth. And what is NBC doing about the situation? You're hiring Republican mouthpieces like Ronna McDaniel, a right-wing tool who has been nothing but a loser for her own party. Do you actually believe she's going to add anything significant to your network?
I am disgusted with your choice to hire McDaniel, and I know I'm not alone. You mainstream media folks had better wake up and start trying to hire some actual journalists instead of muckrakers and right-wing agent provocateurs like McDaniel. Fire her. Now. Then go find more Rachel Maddows and Joy Reids and Lawrence O'Donnells. What is wrong with you people? Can you not tell that the country is burning and that Republicans are throwing gasoline on the fire? Stop coddling the right wing and start telling the people the truth about what's going on.
Shame on NBC for what you've done. Now fix it. America deserves better.
With all the righteous anger I can summon,
Vanessa Sheridan
Former Executive Vice President
2wMasochism is usually a private matter, but apparently the president likes an audience.
