The #realestatesector felt the first impact on #officespace due to #hybridwork and #interestrates . #Inflation, #Interestrates and the devaluation of European disposal income have plummeted the #residentialrealestate market with a lot more pain to come as #energyprices (Ukraine, Middle East ) will keep #constructioncost high, #interestrates make a mortgage very expensive and an economic slowdown will discourage consumers to make big spending decisions . #Banks will need to continue monitoring their #realestate borrowers and re-assess mortgage portfolios, particularly in #pricing but also in #provisions. Although we have not yet observed significant deterioration in #mortgage credit risk , we have noticed significant risk increase in #unsecuredlending and #cards and we are in the beginning of the correction cycle while interest rates will stay elevated.

I can't help but think how much talk there are about these proposed 30,000 houses over 5 years which equates to 6,000 houses per year. I don't understand why there is so little talk about the current shortage of 1,000,000+ houses with the population forecast to grow more than this amount in 2023/2024.
