Have you been to Indonesia?✈️ 🧱This bricks looks different. Last year, while exploring the enchanting streets of Ubud, Bali, I stumbled upon a local construction site amidst my cafe hopping adventures. I am a big fan of exposed bricks😍, so I quickly went by to the construction site🏗️, but the workers👷🏼♂️ could not talk in english so I could not get much information about it. 💻After some research, I found out some technical info on balipod.com⬇️ “The bricks in question are the most expensive ones as they have the highest grade of red clay in them - the clay earth is run through a sieve process and only the finest dust is used in the “temple” bricks. This unfortunately makes them fairly soft and therefore only really good for decorative processes. I have used them here only to clad the reinforced concrete pillars in the house. Most builder🏗️ here on Bali are able to make a good job out of the building with these bricks and the process is fairly simple but involved. 📌The bricks are first rubbed together to achieve a flat outer surface on both bricks and then a screed (thin concrete water compound) is made using the water from the rubbing process (red) to “glue” the bricks together. After they are allowed to set the workers then use more brick to again “sand” down the outer surface to get it nice and even and straight." 🗨️If anyone from Indonesia knows about its composition, please drop a comment.

THE FUNCTION OF DPM This evening, I took the opportunity to conduct a site visit to a Bungalow project in Tijani, Ampang. The current phase involves demolishing and excavation due to an extension on the side. During the excavation of the existing ground slab, a layer of plastic known as Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) was uncovered. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, despite the house being over 15 years old, the DPM remained intact, showing no signs of deterioration and retaining its resilience. Indeed, that's its purpose! The DPM serves to prevent or resist the upward flow of groundwater onto the floor. In cases of rain, water seeps into the ground, and the soil absorbs this moisture. Consequently, the movement or vaporization of water occurs within the soil. The DPM plays a crucial role in preventing this water from rising to the floor. If water does ascend, it can lead to structural floor cracks, floor mold, and potential damage to tiles. Therefore, for those planning to build a house from scratch, it's essential to ensure that your contractor includes DPM in the construction process. **For clearer images, you can search on Google #rancangrenovasi #interiodesign #constructiontips
