Educating our youth transcends curriculum coverage and programatic compliance. A student-centered educational system in 2023 should not have any similarities with an archaic, chairs-in-rows, factory-like school. In addition to structural, organizational, and fiscal issues; there are mindsets, assumptions, and prejudices that have made the educational system obsolete and in desperate need for transformation. Efforts like the one showcased here, although small in scale, are big in significance, as they attempt to change the minds, not only of the students, but also of the adults charged with educating the next generation of citizens.

At Saint Louis Sudbury School, students are free to ask questions, learn from, and hang out with students and staff of all ages. Sudbury model school graduates often comment about how they are comfortable talking with their professors, supervisors, and co-workers of different ages. This is clearly the "Christian School Moment' -- representing the opportunity for schools' to get 'ahead of curve' in so many ways. At Imago Dei Group, we have developed a sort of audit for school leadership to assess how well a school is taking advantage of this opportunity - admissions/enrollment, marketing and development, strategy and planning, program growth, policy updates, faculty contracts, and much more. Overall, the goal would be not only to take advantage of the 'moment,' but also to build an institutional resliency that would withstand inevitable future challenges. We will be sharing our notes in the near future. In the meantime, tracking the progress on 'school choice' is a great mean for observing the tension between opportunity and threats.
