Our partner Marco Vedovatti, together with the other panelists, will discuss the particular features of sports disputes in the LATAM context and the mechanisms to resolve these disputes, including via arbitration. The panel is part of the one-day conference organized by Latin American Arbitration Practitioners | EU to discuss these and other topics of interest to the LATAM practitioners in Europe. Last Friday, I had the great privilege of moderating a YIAG (Young International Arbitration Group) symposium along with fellow co-chairs Manish Aggarwal, Myfanwy (Miffy) Wood and Oleg Todua at Tylney Hall. The discussion was remarkably insightful and dynamic, despite the heat (yes, even in Hampshire), thanks to the participants, who were keen to share their experiences, war stories and views on recent developments in #internationalarbitration. Procedural paranoia - Are arbitrators afraid of their own shadows ? Speaking of paranoia: Is AI going to kill us and take our jobs, HAL style? Must we (still) care about diversity (or lack thereof) in arbitration, and assuming we do, what can we do about it (I mean, other than complain)? Do we really still need Redfern or Stern schedules? Should you (politely or not) nudge an arbitral tribunal for a long overdue award? These are some of the fascinating questions we considered. Chatham House Rule applies, so I can't possibly say more, but I hope you will consider joining us next time in May. And if you are below 40 and are not a YIAG member yet, I strongly invite you to join this amazing community. Link to join in comments.
