VP of Marketing @ Workshop | Internal Marketing & Communications | Branding, Content, and Growth Strategy
IT'S TIME!!! I'm absolutely over the moon to be opening the role for our very first, foundational internal communications manager. I've been dreaming and scheming about this hire for quite some time. Here are a few reasons why it's such an important role to us: 1.) It's early. Many would say that it's still *too* early (we're at about 60 employees). But instead of hiring your first internal comms role to inherit a mess and fix it all when it's broken, what if you could build it right from the beginning?! That's the opportunity we want to chase here. 💖 2.) This role will report into marketing because I have a deep passion for building more transparency into internal communications. I want us to show our work, share our emails, and speak publicly about specific campaigns that are doing well (or not so well). 3.) Internal communications is truly CELEBRATED at Workshop. We exist because we believe in creating more happy Mondays for employees everywhere through great internal comms. Our platform is built for internal communications only. Not only will you be supported in all of the work that you do, but you'll help us shape the product and create better experiences for internal communicators everywhere. It's such a unique and key role, and if you know anyone who would be a great fit (or want more details), please message me and check out more via the job listing! Note*: At this time, the role is not open to a fully remote candidate, but if you're open to relocating to the lovely Omaha, Nebraska...let's talk. ;) Details here: https://lnkd.in/g44mTBzV

Chief Communications Officer | Brand strategist | SABRE and Shorty award-winning communications leader | Board advisor | Neurodiversity champion 💥
🧐 I’ve noticed a huge shift in #communications job openings over the past few years, especially in tech. Tech communication jobs used to be very #PR-focused. But now, the comms jobs I see most often are #AnalystRelations and Internal or Employee Communications gigs. Why? 💡 Companies are realizing the immense ROI of a strategic #AR program—this can’t be phoned in. 💡 Distributed workforces require strategic #EmployeeCommunications—not just ad hoc emails and Town Halls. 💡 Communications teams *are not just PR teams*, and PR skillsets aren’t the same as AR or employee comms (or social media or executive comms) skillsets. Communications and brand pros are focused on multiple stakeholders—journalists, analysts, employees, investors, board members, customers, etc.—and each one of them requires it’s own bespoke communications strategy that’s constantly evolving. In this increasingly distributed world where we’re all vying for the same attention, it just has to be recognized that there is no “one-size-fits-all” strategy or approach for how to effectively communicate with your audiences. There never was, and never will be.

Communications & Corporate Affairs Director/LinkedIn Top Voice in Corporate Communications & Public Relations
Has #communications become too rigid? I've enjoyed many years leading internal and external comms, public affairs and #marketing functions across a bunch of industries. As a comms pro, one of my strongest attributes (forgive blowing of own trumpet) is my pragmatism. It's enabled me to gain a reputation as a 'fixer' - someone who stops bad news before it appears, gets colleagues and stakeholders engaged in dialogue, and slices through ambiguity. At the start of my career, the ability to 'see round corners' and apply creative problem solving were seen as prized assets - and rightly so. That was and remains the way to deliver impactful campaigns, manage reputational risk and add business value. As I'm #opentowork and speaking to recruiters and businesses about leadership roles, it seems that something has changed. Process is king/queen - 'This is how we do comms'. Results have become secondary - I interviewed recently and pointed out that the business should stop issuing multiple press releases every month and concentrate instead on achieving media coverage. They reacted with horror. 'Strategising' has taken precedence over doing - of course it's important to have a communications strategy, I've developed loads, but delivery is more important than drafting. This kind of rigid thinking is having a chilling effect on high-impact, results-focussed communications. There is no point, none, in building a communications team and then tying one (or both) hands behind their backs. There's no doubt that businesses who get it right have a competitive advantage, happier staff, more engaged stakeholders and better reputations. Those who think of communications as a rigid business process should think again. Get a bit more bendy.

🚨 Public Relations JOB ALERT 🚨 Crackle PR is hiring a U.S.-based B2B tech Account Manager or Senior Account Manager. Location: FULLY REMOTE [Required: experience in b2b tech PR] Now, instead of rambling on and on about what *we* need, let me know if this is what *you* need: 1. The ability to “commute” from your bedroom to wherever you’re most productive working? ☕️ 2. A PR career focused on outcomes vs outputs? (We don’t track hours)👍 3. A PR agency that only works with demonstrably good companies? 😇 4. A small but mighty team that’s poised to grow in 2024 🚀 5. An inclusive culture that cherishes diversity and equity and shuns ignorance? 🤦🏾♀️🤦♂️🤦 6. Unlimited vacation time? 🌴 7. A chance to escape the “big agency” hamster wheel 🐹? If this sounds like you, DM me and we’ll tell you the *salary range* during our first conversation. We aren’t as rich as the largest agencies — but neither do we have the politics, the bureaucracy, the cubicles or the mandate to work on every client that knocks on our door. 🚪 We’re choosy: No sucky clients! #careergoals This is hiring transparency. This is your time. This is our time. This is the way ✊ #prjobs #publicrelations 👇
