‘The shopping list is too long’: Marketing recruitment still a ‘buyer’s market’ Brands still hold all the cards when it comes to the job market, but some green shoots might be emerging, say recruiters https://lnkd.in/ewU7hGeh

My thoughts exactly.
Marketing recruitment is in a bad place, and has been since early 2023. More senior marketers are out of work than ever, redundancies and restructures are rife, low-balled salaries the norm and convoluted interview processes increasingly common. These are the experiences of many in the market, and it doesn’t seem to be showing much sign of improvement https://lnkd.in/eGQhfNti

It's still tricky business for marketers looking to land roles. I've been reporting on recruitment for a while now at Marketing Week and the issues people are experiencing: low-balled salaries, loooooong interview processes, rubbish communication and a lack of roles compared with how many people are looking. I'm told there are green shoots emerging, but recruitment isn't out of the woods yet and it's still a buyer's market. 🌱 Thanks to Sarah Skinner, Rachel Zaoui (née Bowman) and Adam Nichols for contributing to my latest check in on the market. More to come! Always keen to hear from marketers, hiring managers and headhunters on what's happening in the market - get in touch molly.innes@xeim.com 📩 #marketingjobs #marketingcareers

There's a lot of discussion on the numbers of senior marketers between jobs right now, or 'The Inbetweeners' as I prefer to call them. Nobody's disputing it's tough at the top, but the answer needed most is whether the big roles will come, or has something changed? So, to help I've pulled a bunch of fuzzy-data to get a sense of the numbers of hires at "Head of..." or above over the past four weeks to see how things are shaping up in Brandland UK. What this shows is a current minimum number of hires per week of 11 (or 43 in total over four weeks, excluding internal promotions). So, the jobs are there to be had - but the market is ugly. And, as hopefully everyone knows by now I'd be useless at recruitment, but feel free to come in for a cup of mint tea if you're a senior marketer who's also temporarily an Inbetweener. There's much to chat. #connectingthemarketingworld

📈 Right…who’s ready for the end of the year push? It's that time of year when recruitment agencies dig deep. It's that bolt of adrenaline that generally translates into huge results. Many businesses will have pent up demand from cautionary hiring YTD and many will have budgets that are 'use it or lose it'. And...with 2-3 month notice periods, any hiring now won't see a start date until 2024. 🔥 As I enter my 20th year of recruitment marketing (scary thought!), I underscore the notion that marketing is not solely a function but a key catalyst for success. When aligned with operational and growth goals, it can play a strategic – if not critical – role at the decision-making table. Why is recruitment marketing relevant today? It… 🚀 Establishes distinctiveness: Recruitment marketing differentiates your agency amidst a competitive arena, allowing your distinct value proposition to shine and resonate with target audiences. 🌐 Broadens your reach: Digital platforms and channels enable you to extend your reach, casting your net wide (but targeted!) and automating processes that couldn’t be achieved manually. 📈 ROI: Digital marketing channels allow you to track what’s working – and what’s not! – letting you focus your resource and energy on what’s moving the dial and delivering growth. 🚀 At Thrive Recruitment Marketing, our expertise extends beyond conventional marketing; we strive to create sustainable growth. Throughout the ups and downs of economies defined by pandemics, hyper-growth and near-recessionary markets, we've enabled numerous recruitment agencies to navigate complexities and strive to thrive! 🚀✈️ #RecruitmentMarketing #EconomicAssurance #Q42023Prospects #StrategicGrowthMindset

Global MD & EMEA CEO, Sarah Skinner spoke to Marketing Week following the latest IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) Bellwether recruitment data which suggests that three in ten brands will increase hiring this quarter. Sarah shared her optimism for the year ahead in terms of marketing recruitment, and taking in to account the geopolitical context, if businesses are optimistic politically, they will spend and hire. #marketing #marketingtalent #marketingleaders #marketing #recruitment #executivesearch #marketingweek #marketing2024 #talentacquisition

Head of Recruitment - Marketing, Digital & Data at Blue Pelican | Recruitment Manager | Headhunter | Specialist Recruiter
If recruitment journeys were looked at in the same way customer journeys were by businesses, there'd be so many changes... Analysing: - Customer behaviour in funnel and optimisation - driving audience relevancy, quality, etc. - Drop off rates and reasons - Successful journey completions - Removing or at least smoothing barriers in the process I could imagine some of the most common changes employers would first embrace would be: - Salaries being disclosed upfront... on the adverts... like they do in ecommerce... putting the prices right there before someone decides to add it to their basket! - Cut out unnecessary or unreasonable stages in a process - such as numerical assessments for roles which don't require high numerical aptitude. Or presentations on topics designed to solve a firm's real-world business problem. - Processes tweaked to not just find reasons to say 'no', but to engage and find opportunities for 'yes'... - Wake up some firms who are laissez faire, relying on their employer brand being shinier than the next to pull people in and keep them interested... when in reality, there's often another brand in someone's interview funnel just as shiny, but interested in them at the same time. What else do you think it might change? #recruitment #jobsearching #jobsmarket
