Happy Saturday everyone!
The week behind us was full of incredible new beginnings, for The Greatest Game!
Change is hard, yet…
“To change with change is the changeless state.”
Weird, right?
This past week I was pressing pretty hard, and specifically letting people know that it is my belief that Topgolf Callaway Brands is likely to fail, bigly, and soon.
Naturally, there are stakeholders who disagree.
The ex-CEO for Topgolf insinuated that I have an addiction to crack cocaine, haha, and that I had better be careful before I get sued!
His thoughts didn’t linger with me for long, because I understand how to look at things from his perspective as well as my own; enough said on that.
It was a criticism that came from an employee of Topgolf Callaway Brands who would be adversely impacted if what I believe is coming, does in fact become a reality, that is still on my mind, this morning…
This was his input, unedited:
“I have to say, Dave, it seems weird to me that you sign each post with “grow the game together” and “with gratitude always” while actively rooting for an industry giant to fail. Why?”
Answer:

Decades of poor leadership, and a corrosive environment for the entire United States golf development ecosystem, is the reason they are vulnerable at this time.
For the past two quarters, we have heard their leadership forecast stability and optimism, and to be blunt, I believe they are clueless, at this moment in history.
That’s all, folks…
Let’s
