Dubbed “America’s Mom,” Tabitha dishes out wisdom wrapped in calm and sass to her 15M+ followers across various social media platforms, not to mention her New York Times bestsellers. Though packaged with humor, Tabitha’s wisdom is hard-earned. She tried to hit it big in Hollywood in 2002, but the gigs she landed didn’t make her a star. Her acting career is further interrupted by personal issues, including her mother’s illness and her own struggle with chronic pain. Her breakthrough eventually came in 2017. By then, Tabitha had turned vegan to overcome her health issues. She made a video review of a Whole Foods vegan BLT sandwich, and it went viral. About 2023... I do not want to repeat what my body went through to get through last year. Apparently when you power through stress, your body flips you the bird and takes that stress on in physical ailments. Can anyone else relate? So, after deep introspection, I'm making some changes in my business this year. I needed to get back to why I started Queen of Hearts Superfoods. I wanted to make a difference in the food system through how people eat. I was naive to think I could do so by making a product that beats out all the other products on the shelf in nutrients, taste and #sustainability. Chasing more wholesale accounts (grocery stores) and playing the very stressful, hustle-culture, pay-to-play game of getting on shelf to be compared to the big guys who are focused on shareholder profits over sustainability and health, is NOT how I want to make a difference. This month I'll be rolling out some exciting news about how we're going to survive, thrive, enlighten eaters, and make a difference OUR WAY. It's going to be entertaining, educational, and... FUN. Because if it's not fun, why are we here? And the ultimate goal? It's going to have IMPACT. I am extremely grateful for our core retail partners who believe in what we're doing. Your prospects are picky eaters I hope you're not feeding them wrongly? Visualise your prospects like a pickyeating toddler. And you know that typical picky eaters can sometimes throw tantrums when they don't get what they want. That is how your prospects act, but instead of throwing tantrums, they hit the exit button. How do you know what they crave? Through indebt research. ▫️What type of content do they engage with more? ▫️What type of questions are they asking? ▫️Who are their mutuals on their various social media pages. What content are they reposting? ▫️Using Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and the likes to get hints of what their preferences are. ▫️If you can, go the extra mile to conduct a questionnaire that is none technical, something that wouldn't put them through much mental stress or else they will run away. Be subtle and simple. That is how you know what they eat. Because believe it or not, nobody comes in search of your brand, they need solutions (what they eat). Reverse is the case for your brand, you're out for them and the only way to switch sides (thereby turning them into loyal audience) is if you're feeding them what they want to eat in the form of valuable content specific to their appetite. I have finally mustered the courage to share this with you. Since I started the business I was told to start a Vlog by marketing experts. They thought my story was inspiring and relatable for many. However, there was one thing that made me shy away from doing that fully. I was concerned about the impact of where I was born on the brand I was building. I launched Good Food For Good to make it easy for health conscious people to add flavour to their meals. It came from my personal struggle to make flavourful, nutritious meals in limited time that were free of dairy, sugar, additives, preservatives, bad oils and gluten. My fear was not baseless..... I faced my fear when I was filming a video for our Ketchup launch with Public Inc. We were asking unsuspecting strangers to try our no added sugar Ketchup with fries to capture their first reactions. I was standing behind the table offering fries and ketchup in a bowl. One very nice gentleman dipped the fry in the Ketchup, looked at me and commented as he finished his bite - "It doesn't taste like curry" This fear that people would assume that everything I make is only linked to where I was born, held me back from being a lot more active in connecting with our customers. I wanted to create flavourful shortcuts inspired by world cuisine that made it easy for people to enjoy eating healthy. I saw myself as the biggest hurdle due to unconscious bias. Not anymore, I will not let the colour of my skin become my creative ceiling! Owning a business does not make me dictate the flavour of everything the brand creates. My origin and my journey is my strength - not my shackle.
