I was honored to be part of the official construction launch for the new #Berlin Center for Cell and Gene Therapies on Friday. This is a major, future-building initiative, and I congratulate Bayer CEO Stefan Oelrich and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin Chairman Heyo Kroemer on getting this project off the ground. In Germany, there is real opportunity for #biotech, but first there is a crucial need to revamp #technologytransfer and #venturecapital, and to foster a mindset shift that allows academics to benefit from translational activities. Great week at BIO for Thermo Fisher’s Bio-innovations Team in San Diego. Always a great city to have an international conference. From the historic Gaslamp, to a rock’n concert at the new Rady Shell and a great cocktail reception at the new RaDD event center with senior executives. One highlight of the week, an energetic Podcast taping of Gianluca Pettiti with BioLabs executive Susan Chase.
