Growing Nanbar Health has been nothing less than terrifying. Especially deciding to continue working as hard as we do during medical school. We continue our work because we know the impact digital health can have on our patients. I am excited to say Nanbar Health will be launching 2 pediatric oncology centers this week. If you're deploying your digital health solution- Here are some things I have learned for deployment.
1. Make things simple - No passwords, no complicated user flows, work to make it simple. Our team opted for a QR code that was unique to the study team and could be scanned by coordinators to enter our app as a method of password protection.
2. Back up your data in multiple spots - You cannot afford to lose patient data. Prepare 3-4 locations for data to be stored securely as backups.
3. It's not about avoiding technical errors, it's about managing them well. - Your team must be ready to manage IT errors, but you also must help your healthcare groups effectively communicate with your team.
4. Make Onboarding Fun + Be Grateful - Healthcare can sometimes seem so uptight, let's have some fun and enjoy this process. Our team worked with local businesses (R+E Custom Printing, Student Doctor Decals, and Plant and See Nursery) to develop our onboarding box, to welcome our new team to the Nanbar Family.
5. Put People First - At every aspect of what your solution does, focus on putting your people first. Putting your doctors first means creating an easy-to-use and supportive tool, putting your internal team first means setting realistic deadlines - underpromising and overdelivering, putting people (patients) first - means going the extra mile with your solution because it's the right thing to do.
Excited for what's next, and grateful for what we've done.
Tomorrow is a big day for Nanbar - For the past sixth months we’ve been working on a version of Nanbar Health for pediatric oncology for two large academic health centers in NC.
With our launch Friday we thought we’d make the event as fun as we can.
Thank you to Student Doctor Decals (Lillington NC and run by our own Jhana Parikh!) for our stickers, R and E Custom Printing (Durham NC) for all our printed items (boxes too!) and Plant and See Nursery (Winterville NC) for our incredible cacti.
