Dr. Andria Peterson, PharmD, Executive Director of the Roseman Medical Group EMPOWERED Program, joined us at the Neighborhood Health Series as our first guest speaker of the fall.
Dr. Peterson presented on - EMPOWERED: How One Program is Changing the Lives of Recovering Moms with Substance Use Disorders and their Babies. In this presentation, Dr. Peterson discussed how EMPOWERED develops and unleashes the power of expectant and recent individuals with opioid and/or stimulant use disorders to actively manage their health and partner in their care, from recovery through stabilization to resilience. She also discussed EMPOWERED's iterative assessments, personalized care plans, counseling services, and health education for program participants through a four-step care plan. With increasing public awareness and support, the program is growing and impacting lives today while providing long-term benefits in support of healthy families.
We'd like to give thanks to the brave EMPOWERED moms, Jen, Sydney, Amani, and Crystal for sharing their stories of recovery. Their individual and collective progress in the EMPOWERED embodies what the program is about: non-judgmental support no matter what stage of recovery they are in.
We'd also like to give thanks to the EMPOWERED team, Roseman University College of Medicine, the Southern Nevada Health District, State of Nevada, and all of EMPOWERED's community partners for their support of the program.
Finally, thank you to Vanessa Maniago, Roseman University Vice President for Strategic Implementation and Engagement, for organizing & implementing the Neighborhood Health Series event.
