A TRUE STORY OF WILLPOWER This week, I had the opportunity to meet Cris Monteiro in New York. She is an inspiring woman and currently a councilwoman in São Paulo. Our conversation deeply moved me, serving as a real-life validation of the concepts I studied in Neuroscience and Behavior. Her story clearly demonstrates how believing in something and wanting to prove we are right (confirmation bias) can transform someone's life. Cris was determined to write a new story, different from the one she had lived.   It also highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and the meaning we assign to our experiences as keys to a successful journey. It’s not about how many times we fall, but how we rise. She shared many of her experiences, including numerous failures, showcasing her determination and tireless work to enjoy countless joys and achievements.   In summary, Cris Monteiro's story starts in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro and leads to her achieving success in the competitive financial world, overcoming numerous obstacles. She became a Managing Director at JP Morgan and eventually left her prestigious career to pursue a more challenging path in politics, driven by a desire to give back to society. Her narrative is a powerful testament to resilience, empathy, and the pursuit of a greater purpose, inspiring us all to reflect on our own paths and the choices we make. #Inspiration #Resilience #EmotionalIntelligence #Leadership #WomenInLeadership #SuccessStory #OvercomingObstacles #Neuroscience #BehavioralScience #CareerTransformation #Empowerment #PersonalGrowth
