When a new #medication is recommended, my advice to clients is don’t just blindly accept your provider’s suggestion without understanding exactly why & the implications of taking something new. By asking more questions, you’ll be an actively engaged informed participant in determining your personal healthcare decision making. For instance, my clients bring along a notebook to MD visits for note taking and questions. (My clients always chuckle when I ask them if they did their ‘homework.’) But some questions to ask about a new medication are: 1. Is this for the long term? 2. What are the pros & cons of taking this medication? 3. Will it interact with current medications and/or conditions? 4. What are my options? 5. How much time do I have to make a decision?
