Not just talking - but some action! 🚀💬 Last week, I was at the Landtag of the Bremen State Parliament. One of the topics was international skilled workers. German companies need these professionals, especially in IT and healthcare. But there are often hurdles. One reason lies in the different work cultures. 🌍💼 And this is where I come into play: I explain German culture simply and clearly—for both sides. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 € 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆. DER SPIEGEL quotes my Egon Zehnder colleague So-Ang Park with regards to the current study we conducted with McKinsey & Company - and with more than 2.000 German employees sharing their experience. Here are some of the findings: 💡 In Germany today, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟰𝟰 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. 💡 We assume that the German economy can benefit from an additional value of more than 100 billion euros, among other things by activating people with migration background for the labour market more than in the past, by filling vacancies through qualified influx of international talent and by making optimal use of the potential of culturally diverse teams. 💡 Respect, appreciation, recognition and equal opportunities promote an inclusive sense of belonging in companies. 💡 In the survey, just 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. 💡 Almost 78% of respondents do not perceive any active recruiting of culturally diverse talent in their organisations. 💡 Others take a half-hearted approach to the issue; they attract diverse talent, but do not support them in realising their full potential - only 36% of the respondents said their employers have an inclusive HR policy. Traditionally dominated by men, the energy sector is now changing. And we’re here for it! Recently, the entire E.ON CZ and EG.D signed the European Commission’s Diversity Charter to make our workplace more diverse. This platform will allow us to use the know-how and lessons learned from other companies within the EU as well as to implement systematic changes and put in practice proven management tools. It’s not just a buzzword and a cool thing to do for us — numerous research shows the importance of diverse teams for companies; for example, 83 % of European companies confirm that diversity benefits the business. DEI (Diversity, equity and inclusion) is also of great importance to Gen Z and Millenials when choosing their prospective employer. With my colleague Zuzana Krajča, HR Transformation Manager at E.ON CZ, we joined a ceremony for new signatories in the Parliament to make things official. We also attended a meeting of responsible companies with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Markéta Adamová Pekarová, where we discussed how to implement our D+I strategies.
