Shhh. Don't tell. Want advice from an expert on how to succeed in a competition to design a decarbonized school building that responds to equity and resilience? Watch my interview with the amazing Nate Heckman, AIA, a professor and technical expert. The 2024 Architecture at Zero competition challenge is to design a new building on a middle school campus in East Los Angeles (East LA), California.  The new building will replace relocatable classrooms and includes science labs, art classroom, maker space, outdoor learning environments, and a teacher workroom. While the competition program location is Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School, note that this is an ideas competition and is not a “real” project. Deadline for entries is December 16, 2024. Special thanks to all the people who made this competition a reality: Anna LaRue, Nicki Dennis Stephens, Nate Heckman, AIA, Dave Intner, Dustin Johnson, Tala Daya, Ph.D., Southern California Edison (SCE), American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), AIACA, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, California Energy Commission, IBPSA-USA, ASHRAE San Jose Chapter, California Architectural Foundation, AIA Los Angeles, Carrie Brown, Alexander Fonseca, SoCalGas, Angela McDonald https://lnkd.in/gcnVQDxS
