Main takeaways from #EuropeanaTech23? #Impact - planning for impact at the design phase helps deliver relevent and meaningful projects! #AI - it's still not smart enough to do many of the things we want it to, but it will be one day, so we need to plan our strategies and prepare our data now to ensure that it can be harnessed to complement human engagement with cultural heritage, rather than replace it. #Dataspace - Many of the talks re-enforced my belief that we need to focus, not only on digitisation, but on improving our data quality. For our data to be compatible with larger linked data spaces we need common entities. that means thinking of data as a collection of 'things' not 'strings'. Linked open Data is also crucial in helping AI understand the structures and relationships within our datasets. Big thanks to #Europeana for putting on such a great conference!
