Next week, the Edinburgh branch of Parkinson's UK will be running their annual Parkinson's Lecture- and we're proud to be supporting the event. Parkinson's Disease affects over 137,000 people in the UK, and numbers are expected to rise over time. But behind the numbers lie real people whose daily lives are affected by the condition alongside their loved ones, caregivers, and society as a whole. On Wednesday 20th September, this year's Edinburgh Parkinson’s Lecture will be delivered by Professor Camille Carroll, entitled "Learning to Listen – a patient-centred approach to Parkinson’s care and research." If you work in Parkinson's Disease modeling or drug discovery, we'd encourage you to attend (either live or virtually). We should all do our bit to support Parkinson's UK and see the strong community of patients, family, friends, and researchers who are collectively on the same journey as us: in search of better treatments, earlier detection, and ultimately a cure for Parkinson's Disease. [Alzheimer’s disease, let’s talk about it!] 🧠 In September 2023, Clariane took action on a local, national and European level with a range of initiatives to support people with Alzheimer’s disease, their families and their medical and care teams. We produced 🔟 videos on Alzheimer’s disease in collaboration with Prof Bruno Dubois, Dr Didier Armaingaud, Dr Elisabeth Kruczek and experts from all the countries in which Clariane operates. These videos cover diagnosis, symptoms, treatments, advices and resources available, to help families better understand Alzheimer’s disease and support their loved ones, both at home and in care homes. The memory consultation is a medical consultation to assess problems identified beforehand by the GP. ◻️ What to expect from the memory assessment process? ◻️ Which cognitive domains are assessed? ◻️ How do neuroimaging techniques like MRI and PET scans provide information about the brain’s structure and function? Discover our fifth video with Prof Bruno Dubois to know more about the memory consultation unit 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQsfXgn2 Antoine Piau Marie-anne Fourrier Sabine Gourgeon Nicolas Jurado #ClarianeAtYourSide #Alzheimer #AlzheimersDisease #dementia #health

Alzheimer’s is a brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. Alzheimer’s disease (Dementia) is a progressive disease beginning with mild memory loss and possibly leading to loss of the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to the environment. In Episode 1, we will discuss what is Alzheimer’s & in Episode 2, (to be published tomorrow, 26.10.23), we will throw light on the (current) management of Alzheimer’s.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month in the United States. During this month, the goal is to raise awareness about the risk factors and symptoms of stroke, as well as promote stroke research. It is also a reminder that despite amazing advances in research and clinical care, stroke continues to be our nation’s #1 cause of disability and #5 cause of death—estimated to cost businesses over $50 Billion a year between health costs and lost productivity. We at Eurofins Clinical Trial Solutions proudly join with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and others to help raise awareness, and support advancements in stroke clinical research and treatment. Remember that research is a collaborative effort, and every contribution matters. Whether you’re a scientist, volunteer, or supporter, your involvement can make a difference in the fight against stroke. #NationalStrokeAwarenessMonth #clinicaltrials #biopharma #eurofins

Otsuka's commitment to health for every mind extends to those who care for people with mental illnesses and other brain conditions. We are dedicated to caring for those who care for our patients—standing with them, the way they stand with their loved ones—and offering the tools they need for the health of others and themselves. At this year's The Hill live panel, 'More Than Memory Loss: Caring For Those With Alzheimer's,' Otsuka Vice President of Corporate Affairs Debra Barrett and Otsuka Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer John Kraus discussed the common neuropsychiatric symptom of agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease; addressing the impact on patients and their caregivers, non-pharmacological and pharmacological ways to help manage the condition, and the urgency to recognize brain diseases as chronic diseases that warrant early, equitable, and accessible intervention.
