Stop defining job requirements in years, and start defining them by experience. ✅ Frameworks (build, deploy, management) ✅ Enforced SLAs ✅ Upheld KPIs ✅ Practical/real life event triage ✅ Industry specific compliance standards ✅ Interdepartmental workflows ✅ Investigation methodologies ✅ Tech stacks ✅ Day-to-day responsibilities ✅ Operational requirements ✅ System config monitoring (freq. & depth) ✅ Value-add contributions If you’re unable to get a clear picture of a candidate’s capabilities or fit with these easy to validate skills (maybe with the exception of SLAs & KPIs), you likely have and incomplete idea what you need and should probably not be in a hire/fire position. I personally know many people who have gained more experience in 3 and a half years than many people will or could ever survive. The template for A players is in their path, not their miles.

We sold our national security to the lowest bidder 😬 Now that is a headline! The sad thing is there is some truth there. What does this have to do with #recruiting? 🤷♂️ Everything! The 🐴 A.S.S. (Archaic Acquistion System) 😂 of the federal government makes it nearly impossible to bring new talent into the market. Not only is there a very limited supply of Security Cleared candidates to begin with... There is no mechanism to bring capable candidates into programs if they are not an EXACT fit. And remember when we thought we could afford all those engineers FAANG laid off? Not Happening. The whole industry feels this and struggles with it daily. Look I am no national security expert, but I know a thing or 2 about talent in the #GOVCON space and if we do not do something quickly, we will be in big trouble. Forget tenure based hiring and move towards skill assessed hiring.. Find capable people and bring them closer to the mission... Or as we like to say.... Find horses and turn them into unicorns. Lot's of snark in this one....

The SDR-Role is an opportunity for new starters of a sales career and Tanium is a great place to work. Sales is the art of identifying what means value to your customer and converting it into a deal. Any entrepreneur and any Senior Manager has to develop this skill to a certain extend.
